i dont know what is the 'best' tyre to use, but ive got 17x9" on GBM using Dunlop FM901's and typically, id get bout 25,000km from em maybe more if i lifted my right foot more often :D
the rubber, like i said is Dunlop FM901s (245/40/R17) and are bloody brilliant.. agressive styling as well. They are a Very high proformance Dry tyre and a HIGH proformance Wet Weather...
my dealer said they are good for 300km dry, and 200 wet... hehe.. trust me, ive tried the 200 wet and its handling is pretty cool! i know, i was being stupid and dont tell my mum i was doin 200km hour in the wet! She'd drill me 3 times over!
but back on track :) id highly recommend these tyres for highproformance/safety. Road noise is pretty low also.
Downfall; Price.. not the best of value, RRP 310 each fitted :(
Having said that, my safety is worth 310 a tyre. :)
BOOYA Factor: 8.9/10

the First Gen VRX had the same 16inch alloys as the sports, then they upgraded it with the new 17inch which Bain has now :D
To choose tyres, you will need to know what you want to lean the car against... do u want it to perform well under wet conditions? Durability? looks (thread)... or have it all (at a premium of course :D)
Other than Pirellis, I recommend Bridgestones or Dunlops... I am not a fan of Falkens though....

risky rog are they grid 3's your talking about ? If so have driven a fair few wrx's with these fitted, seem like a nice tyre.
They hang on pretty good, don't know what there like in the wet but they can get pretty noisey if not looked after well

I got the Bridstone GIII a month ago on my Verada. Must remember they are on the standard alloy Wheels. Believe me :) they are not noisy, Bridstone fixed them, the GII were noisy. These new ones are ok. Handle well, rain or shine. You wont be disappointed. The tread does look chunky though.

Hey Risky Rog, What tyres did you get. Iv had the G111's for 3 months now and am very happy with them. As I said befor I still think they look chunky. But they do the job & are not noisey.

Dont forget all tyres for the TJ magna have to be 95 load rated to be legal.
I have 18"s on my car and am using Falkens. So far so good although i find that it has not changed the fact that i cant get a decent launch when racing as i still lose too much traction

Doesent the TJ-II AWD Sports come standard with Grid III's?
Also, have you guys seen the segment on Bright Idea's for Toyo tyres? I dont know how good they are, but the two cars they've got "proving" the tyres are magnas. They look sweet as, especially with the abs on the aftermaret mags. :D

I've been using Kumho Ecsta Supras on mine. done about 25,000 so far...reckon i've got at least another 25,000 to go. as long as tyres are rotated regularly, then most decent tyres should last quite a long time.

I have been using Falken tyres for 3 years now, this is the third set so dont expect much wear from them, but they stick real good.
