View Full Version : Do 16" rims fit over Ralliart Magna Brakes ?

I currently have 17" VRX rims but get some tramlining.
Thinking of going to 16" but have Ralliart front and rear brake conversions.
Rears shouldn't be a problem but front clearance looks a bit tight.

Has anyone tried to put 16" over Ralliart brakes on A Magna ?
Would be handy to know before I have to buy before I try.
Thanks.

My standard TH sports 16" alloy (which is my spare wheel) fits over my ralliart/AWD brakes with no problems, also remember that the AWD (same sized front and rear brakes as the ralliart) came from the factory with 16" rims anyway.

So if you got hold of some 16" AWD factory alloys or similar you wont have any problems.

theres your answer.

im suprised you have tramlining with 17's, your not from Melbourne are you.

I get it with my 17's but thats because ive got 205/40/ZR17's

Yes, I've got a TL AWD with factory 16 x 6 alloys.

Apparently AWD's have Ralliart brakes. Braking performance doesn't seem improved over standard though!

If you're interested in getting a set of TL alloys let me know, as I'm eyeing some rims on E-Bay......

I have 235x45x17 so the tyres are wider and more prone to tramlining.
If I was in Melbourne, strangely enough, the tramlining would be less as the tramlines aren't affected by undulations in the road surface. lol

Jason'sVRX:

Thanks for the info.
The gap between the caliper and the rim on my '02 VRX rims is less that 1/2 inch so there must be a different shape at that point to the 16' rims.

Brakes are same and I can confirm that there is a BIG difference between stock and AWD/Ralliart - on my TJ anyway. Standard brakes aren't bad but these are better.

I'm also looking at EBay (but at 16's) - PM or E-mail me what you will be wanting for your TL's, with or without tyres. If with tyres - size, brand/ model, %wear left. Are you in Sydney ? Thanks.

Scorpion, I'm after $250 for the set of four TL AWD alloys.

Standard 10-spoke 16 x 6 in the darker grey factory finish (Mitsubishi call them 'shadow chrome'....as if!)

Two are fine, 2 have gutter rash (fleet car)
I'm in Brisbane.....probably around $70-$80 to post them to Sydney, at a rough guess......see how I go with that set of mags on E-Bay, bidding ends tomorrow......

And yes I have driven many "standard" 3rd gen Magnas --> I owned a KH xi and a TJ VRX previously, and my TL AWD brakes (even with new pads) seem to be the same (ie. average) as the KH and TJ......perhaps the brake system wasn't bled properly and there's air in the system? I don't know, if everyone seems to think the RalliArt/AWD brakes are better, perhaps I should get them checked out.....

Hmm......one more thing to fix on the TL
(horn not working, driveline shudder in 1st, assorted creaks and groans from suspension, light dimmer not working)......

yeh the ralliart brakes arent that great but far far better than the others...
