Hi,
Any tips on removing Magna CV joints from the driveshaft?
Do you just bash them off with a big hammer?
Do the come off the shaft easily?
Of course the driveshafts are already removed from the vehicle.
Thanks for any help.

I don't want to discourage you from rebuilding the cv joint but it's probably easier to replace the whole shaft. New Cv joint is about $40. Replacement shaft with new joints is $110. Time saved not fringging around with the cv joint - priceless. Plus, you get a warranty with the new shaft.

Thanks MI. Yeah I saw they sell both, just wasn't sure how hard it is to get the old CV off. I guess it's more hassle than it's worth.

all about CV joints
Part one general information
http://www.aa1car.com/library/cvjoint1.htm
Part two faults and diagnosis
http://www.aa1car.com/library/cvjoint2.htm
after undoing the outer cv joint etc
you could undo the cv inner boot strap on both cv joints
and the cv joints and drive shafts should just come out
leaving the cv outer casing still in the gearbox
you have two types roller cage or tri seal bearing
up to you when refitting you can refit the new boots and tie straps

Thanks Magna Buff.
So your saying, if I undo the rubber boot on the CV joint it will just slide off the driveshaft?
If that's it, then I'll definitely give it a go.
