Hey guys, my Drivers door window winder has screwed itself. its been having issues for a while but it has finally carked it, so much so my window wont stay up which obviously isnt good for rain or locking the car. thought id put a thread up before i go to a wrecker...

anyone got a spare mechanism and wire lying around? lol or know where i can get a cheap one? wreckers near me are asking $50 which i reckon is ****e.

anyways if anyone can help me out itd be very appreciated!

I paid $299 for mine about 1½ years ago for the TS. Auto elec did it for me in 1 hour for $100.
Most you guys can do it yourself but :D

Mine was off ebay from the same bloke (rapidelectronics) but from the website RRP is $599 for the 4 door set.

Add him to your msn and ask him about it. Mine were $299 for the whole kit. Even comes with universal covers for the existing wind up latch once you remove that so there are no holes in the door!

Definitely worth it.

Wonder if this would be cheaper than getting the power window parts from a wrecked verada and putting them in. For sure would be cheaper than grabbing all the doors from a wreck and stuff right?

Just remember that your standard regulators are still used.

If you are able to the far better option is to go to a self serve wrecker and obtain the genuine units. Even if you end up using your won wiring for them it is not that hard to wire up. Is also a lit neater as you hve then the original switches etc.

I don't suppose the 1st gen ones are the same? If so, I have some :-)

my 100kW Barina (1000kg) would struggle to do a low 15, i fail to see how a heavier car with less power could get a low 16 :doubt:

No just saying, If a V6 manual Can only manage a 16.5 (which is still ok) Like its going to need ALOT of work to take probably more then a second off your current ET. Actually more then, Cause an auto TR V6 will pull a 17.
But umm i have faith.....Dunno what your gonna do or how but dont spend too much money on something that will only pull a low 16 ;)

thats y im not spending anymore on it, saving for a subaru...
my aim is 16.5 or better. which im confidnet ill get. i got a flat 17 with rooted clutch, i mean rooted. since then its been new chains, heavy clutch, cai doesnt sound like much but pulls alot better. speaking of which, i need to work out my new clutch ahah.

new laws coming in, P platers cant driver anything bigger than a 4 cyl. no turboes or SCs.
oh ill turbo it, dw bout that. im gettin a non turbo so i can put a bigger turbo on it, plus ill be able to play around with it more than a factory turbo version. plus itll be a mission finding a factory RS that hasnt had the crap thrashed out of it.

The cable in mine split in a couple of places. Replace the cable or the whole winder assembly?

well i got the new one today and pete helped me install it, feels soo much better, mainly coz it actually winds up and down now haha. the old wire was totally rooted, looked like a birds nest. now i can have the wind in my face again. plus it added 10kw atw!!
