or maybe he presses a button.
its starts he's car
and re-routes the exhaust fumes into a giant balloon,
which inflates and slowly raises the boot ?

Well in a first gen you just give the springs a twist then hook them back on, but I can't remember seeing springs on the second gen boot so it's my guess that he has just played around with those bar things....

i have seen this done before on a mates commodore, he used an old wiper motor or something. connected a cable up and when he pressed the button it slowly lifted the boot up.

Gas struts for the win (3rd Gen) Had to remove those bars to fit my sub box in there. :bowrofl:
So i got some gas struts from a commie boot and chucked them in there. If my boot lid wasnt full of stuff to stop it from rattling it woulf open right up aswell.

yeh i did this mod as well here a simple DIY for anyone that wants to try ot(doesn't work on all cars)
Tools:
-Selly's RP-7 or WD-40 or any lube you've got really (see if you have any KY gel hangin around after that night on commercial road you "didn't" go to the other weekend)
Step 1-Pop the boot
Step 2-Spray the hinges well
Step 3-Close the boot
Step 4-Use remote or in car button/lever to open the boot and watch in amazement!

haha i was thinking the same. after some body work was done to my first gen i put the springs at the last hole instead of the first one. presto when i pull the boot relase my boot pops up like majic (sp?). didn't think it was much of a mod:nuts: but if your trunk split in the middle while opening up then i would say thats a cool mod:redface:

just get the springs from a normal magna, ther like 15ea from mitsu. youll need a tyre lever to get them off/on and someone to hold the boot. WATCH UR FINGERS!!!!!! there under a lot of tension.

haha i tried the wd 40 but no go as the boot is still to heavy...
also now nobody can slam the boot :P it can only go down slow :P
well i was also thinking of adding the hinged boot mod but im yet to figure out how i can get it working in one movement.....*scratches head...*

as was said earlier buy someone.. it is indeed done via struts (similar to the ones under the bonnet but shorter(from a EF falcon if i remember correctly))
bascially they were hooked up so that the boot would open itself instead of just unlatching and not moving at all...
yes it does work... and there will be a video up tommorow.

Thats the issue.. i removed them many years ago on a car and had a very close call with my head as they flew off, that kinda put me off touching them..:)
Its kinda cool for now.. as when im carring stuff and hit the release it open boot right up and i just put stuff in.. no need to lift the lid..:)
Where are you adz.. we want to know more..:)
