noticed just lately my ks seems to be chewing through quite a bit of fuel.... missing a little bit and running a bit rough.... driving as gentle as possible to try and conserve my fuel but still seems to chew it like it's going out of fashion.... could it jus be the need of a good service and tune or sumting a bit more major?

i wanna know this to. my problem though is that mine isnt running badly. its just using more fuel. logically when i think about it if the cars running rough shouldnt it use less petrol??

People seem to forget that these cars are getting older and parts are getting older.
Rubber hoses start to cause vac leaks, change them
Injectors get blocked, ultrasonic clean them and replace all the seals
Engine is gettng older, more blow by, this goes into the inlet to burn.....
make sure engine gaskets are sealing as when oil leaks out air leaks in.....
Transmission service for the auto's does not go astray
Dist cap and rotor
Dist shaft, it is prone for mitsu's to get play in the shaft
These are jsut a few things to look for

MAGWGN, I'll bring the trusty O2 sensor test set next week, and we'll have a quick look at it. It may not be playing up, but will give an indication of running rich. Could be the thermostat keeping the car cold, so it is always on warm up run rich ideas.

Get it to a good service place and get the injectors cleaned, whole system
flush, replace any leaking seals, gaskets etc. Get the transmission serviced
as well. I'm currently getting 9km/litre with suburban start stop driving and
mine is heavier than yours.

A digital multimeter and some speaker cable!
I have posted re this a couple of times here and on MOGWA.
Just need to look at whether the volts are oscillating over/under 0.5V on your O2 sensor, then it is OK, and the car is "listening" to it. If it sits at 0.8 ish volts, then your car is running rich, and not trying to keep the right air/fuel ratio.

Hmmm. I have a brand spaking new engine and all electrics are OK.
Injectors are clean and mine sucks fuel worse than a V8 supercar!
I'm told by quite a few TR-TS owners that my economy is good !

ok after a good service well within the time (169,000) tune up..... sparkies, leads, and everything replaced will see how the fuel economy of my car goes. 1 thing to get fixed and she'll be in perfect condition.
will keep ya posted on it ;)

mine doesnt do too bad but it does use a bit more than id like.

from what ive heard this is pretty typical tho.
