Firstly I did a few searches but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for.
Just looking for a list of the parts I require to upgrade standard 3rd Gen brakes (KE Verada) to the AWD braking system.
Will be contacting a wrecker soon and will make the job 1000 times easier if I can just chuck a list of parts at them.
I dont require instructions as Ill probably just get it done professionally as Id prefer my brakes to work :)
Also a recommended Brake pad aswell, preferably something that wont dust up my rims if possible.

Pretty much all you need are the calipers and the hoses (for checking the fittings to make new ones).
That's all I got to get my twin piston conversion done. I had mine fitted by a brake shop, and all they wanted was assurance that the caliper fitted the hub, and that I had the hose from the original car to allow them to make a new one to inferface between the car and caliper.
I've tried several different pads, albeit on a KR, and so far Bendix Advanced seem to be the best. Ferodo were pretty ordinary, a LOT of dust.
One of my brother's friends has a TJ Sports with a Ralliart brake kit; he uses EBC Greenstuff and as far as I know they're quite good, but they destroy your rotors.
I'd also highly recommend replacing all the seals and boots, even if they look good.

So the standard brakes use the same size rotor as the AWD?
How much roughly did they sting you to install all this stuff?

Nope. You'll need to get a set of AWD or Ralliart rotors. You CAN get the set from the wrecker if you want, but they'll probably need to be refaced and that will probably take them down close to the minimum limit (22.4mm). I use RDA slotted on my car; they've never let me down.
The standard rotor size for the KE is 276x24mm. The AWD and Ralliart is 294x24mm. I'd probably recommend slotted rotors as they don't allow the pads to float under hard braking (When brake pads get extremely hot, the bonding compounds in the pad give off gas which causes the pad to float in the caliper, removing it from contact with the rotor. The slots channel the gas away.).
Unfortunately a downside of slotted rotors is the constant facing off of the pads, which creats a lot of dust. The upside to this effect is that the pads will constantly have a rough friction surface, which promotes better braking.
As for installation costs, $160. $45 per hose, and 1 hour's labour at $70. The bloke was actually quite interested as he hadn't seen this type of conversion before, and he didn't mind me watching. Quite an informative experience. They also might want to keep your car for a few days to check clearances and have an engineer look at it.
Depending on the shop, they might be a little bit edgy about the conversion. The place where I got mine done was, until I told them that I was prepared to accept all liability, and it was invoiced as a hose replacement, not a brake conversion.
That's thing about brakes. You need them to stop, but no one wants to work on them...

i'm in the same position, brakes need upgrading, but awds and ralliarts arent common over here in the wreckers, so might just get rpw's kit, but $1000-$1200... damn money, why do i always use so much! :bowrofl:

A while ago when I was trying to source my set of front ralliart calipers, I rang practically every wrecker in the country and had no luck. They seem to be very hard to find :(
Eventually I lucked out when TZAboy offered to sell me his leftovers.
Apparently a wrecked ralliart only pops up somewhere every few months at best, and the brakes are the first thing to get snapped up.

As of recently I can't recomend EBC greens at all. They are fine for the street, but one visit to the track and they warped and scored my previous RDA rotors. A week later I switched over to DBA4000 and DS2500..the EBCs were heavily cracked, even crumbling slightly:shock:
So I guess EBC greenstuff is fine for the street, but can't stand up to anys ort of track use, or even some decent twisties.

EBC Greenstuff are for street use only man. If you want a track pad use the Bluestuff or whatever. They should be ok for spirited street use tho right? I'm about to buy some this week for my car...

What rotors are you using? The problem with Greenstuff is they are quite harsh on the rotors, I managed to warp my RDA slotted rotors through spirited street driving (mind you, it really was "spirited").
standard rotors, or DBA replacement rotors will probably be even wose..I suggest DBA4000 rotors if you are gonna punich your brakes to any great extent.
They are a good street pas thou..quiet and very "bighty"

I've got the front awd ones ( which are the same as the ralliarts) paid $400 just for the front set.
I use the bendix 4WD brakes they have been good to me.

After some clarification..rear awd and ralliart calipers are different correct? AFAIK only the fronts are the same..
AFAIK awds have a different rear hub, meaning you can't use rear awd calipers without a spacer?

Clarification: Ralliart and AWD rear calipers are exactly the same. The difference is in the "hat height" of the rotors. In other words you will need spacers to make the calipers fit if you use rotors which are designed for an AWD. At this point - I'm pretty sure no one makes an aftermarket replacement rear rotor which fits the Ralliart specs, but there was some indication a few months ago that RDA had them in the pipeline.

Bummer I missed out on these
But for ultimate clarification about calipers and rotors, here is a link to the source of truth http://www.wermspowke.net/wiki/index.php/Wheels#Brakes

Thanks for that BB
I notice DBA have 4000 series ralliart rears listed..can anyone comfirm if they are available yet? I remember there was a thread about this a while ago. If not, how much for OEM ones from mistu? I do track work, so I don't wanto have to get OEM rotors, only to have them warp every track day.
TJ sports: I'll take em, the only issue being if aftermarket rotors are gonna be available anytime soon. you've got another PM :)

I checked on DBA about 4 weeks ago and they weren't available at that time.

By that do you mean you rang them up? If so did they give any indication when they've be available?
Seems odd that the ralliart rears DBA4000s would be listed in the catalogue, if it isn't available.

Didn't ring. Checked through a DBA dealer (who phoned DBA while I was there).

Standard Ralliart rotors whatever they are. I might see what sort of pads I'll actually get if I order them trade through Mitsi. Don't wanna chew rotors. How much are the new rotors?

Are you doing the front, rears or both
DBA4000 slotted rotors are good enough for motorsport, they are $~440 RRP for the front pair..they are bulletproof, but aint cheap. I imagine the rears should be a little cheaper, but it seems they might not be available yet.
Normal DBA replacement slotted rotors are about $270 front and rear.
Basically if you wanto use hard pads and drive hard without chewing rotors, DBA4000 rotors are the bee's knees, but probably overkill for the street. It really depends how hard you're gonna drive. In theory you shouldn't ever be driving hard enough on the street to justify them, but if you're gonna do stupid speeds then at least get some good brakes :)

Getting pads for front and rear... altho rears might not need to be done, so maybe only front. I don't want to pay for new rotors so that's out of the question. Maybe I need to look at other brake pads.
Well I don't hoon around or anything. I've never gone to the absolute limit of my brakes, not even got them to fade before.

Man I'm just gonna get the EBC Greenstuff/Blackstuff (front/rear) combination. If they chew my rotors up it's a good excuse to get some cool looking brakes.

Yeah, Shop around,
When I was looking for mine Prices varied heaps. Ended up getting the green's on the front for $130. and the blacks on the rear for $50.
I had some issues with my greenstuff and the rda slotted rotors. Had to get the rotors machined after 5,000km due to warpage - and I'm not heavy on the brakes. Also they still squeal a bit just as you apply the brakes. And EBC customer service is really ordinary. They didn't want to know me when I started asking questions about the warranty.
But they certainly pull the car up quick when you really need them.
For those looking for front and rear brakes from the wreckers, ask for the complete brake lines too. They just cut off the steel brake lines. Brake line fittings are identical to the stand brakes. (Not the caliper end though, hence the reason you need the awd/ralliart brake lines)
