My girlfriend bought me a FM Modulator for my 02 Diamante LS so I could listen to my ipod and hopefully get better quality sound than I did with the wireless unit. I've been putting off installing the thing because I knew I would have to hack in to a wire some place or run a wire all the way to the battery. I'm pretty mechanical, but I'm not experienced with wiring at all.

So, Friday I took my dash apart using the direction Crutchfield sent with the modulator. The directions were great for getting the dash apart, and then absolutely useless for hooking up the modulator. The modulator has an on/off switch, so I think I need to either run it in to a wire that is currently for nothing or is always on. I came to this conclusion because the first place I tried was my hazard power wire and when I flipped the modulator on my hazards came on too.

Does anyone know of a good power wire to use, or should I try to run a power wire all the way to the battery?

Do the Infinity decks have locking system? Just wondering so I can go ahead and put a call in to Mitsubishi to find out how to reprogram around it.

Let me know. Thanks for the help guys.

James

there should be a constant 12V wire running to the back of your stock head unit.
aswell as a 12V Switching wire.

Do you happen to know which wires those would be and the colors? Thanks for the help!

get urself a multimeter to check but im relativly sure BLUE is the switching wire,

and RED with a black stripe is Constant,
Also the constant wire should be slightly thicker than the rest.

Seriously though grab your self a multimeter.
Im guessing your from USA, i think radio shack should sell them.
