Hi guys was looking at getting my car lowered so I rang up my insurer to see what they had to say. Apparently they will only allow me to get lowered 1.5 inch front and back. I was just wondering is this how much most people lower their cars? or is it not even worth lowering this much? And does anyone have some pics of their car lowered this much?

Thanks Guys!

Matt

I have King low springs on my TJ wagon. They dropped the front by 40mm, and the rear by about 30mm (although the springs have probably sagged a little in the 5 years since they were installed).

It's definitely worth lowering 1.5", if that's the limit that your insurance will allow.

Alternatively, move to another insurance company that will allow you to go lower ;-)

Cheers,
Martin.

Any lowering is good lowering for a TJ  .

As stated above, Kings lows will be within the limits your insurance company have specified, and as long as you aren't looking for that "on it's guts" look - you won't be disapointed. Lows all round will definetly give the car a more agressive stance.

had a massive argument with my insurer earlier, rang to add my stereo and rims to my contract, and they turned around and said they were cancelling my policy because the accessories exceeded the value of the car, and because i fitted the springs myself.

after 45 minutes of argument and call waiting, i finally got onto a manager who said 'who cares about the springs, as long as you get an alarm we will insure everything'

the 2 women i had before the manager were utter morons, they couldnt understand what i was saying when i said 'i will remove the stereo so i can be insured then', their reply was 'but we know you have the stereo! you cant trick us', 'how can i trick you WHEN I WILL REMOVE IT'... 'yes but we know you have it so we wont insure you.'

shannons questioned me when i took up the quote and said "ohh and i havent got airbags" the guy on the phone said "ohh why not" (airbags were on the list of mods i told them about on my quote)

ROFL What company is that? They sound like total retards!

EDIT: Found these guys when reviewing the AAMI site (my insurer) http://www.justcarinsurance.com.au/ Apparently AAMI don't look kindly on 'performance' vehicles.
