View Full Version : 3rd Gen Resonator?

Hi folks,

Have a 3rd gen TJ VR-X, looking at doing a CAI but noticed what looks to be a resonator on the snorkel which I was intending on removing. Does anyone know if they are safe to remove and what they actually do in the first place?? :nuts:

yer u can remove. theres lots of threads on how to plug them up with different types of caps

Works a treat, I have a second gen but they work well on either generation lol

Not sure if it's the most clever idea removing it, seeing as it seems it was VERY intentionally put there... :redface:

maybe so...but why arent they on all 3rd gens....i took mine off and put cai in there. My TH i used to have doesn't have one at all

its there to take away induction roar... the only reason it wouldnt be a good idea to remove them is if you dont like induction noise

My TL AWD snorkel doesn't have a resonator, but the snorkel I bought from the wreckers, to modify, does have one. It appears that it was considered unnecessary in later models.

My TF and KF both got reso's on the snorkel...

its called the Mc Cormick Mod

take off the reso and bung in a lid from a mc cormicks spice bottle and your home and hosed

this is off the intake snorkel...not the pipe. This resonator has rivets holding it on.
