View Full Version : Fuel Filter

Hey guys and gals,

i've done a search and coulsn't find anything so i thought i would start a new thread, anyway, i've been trying to change the fuel filter on my car (95 ts v6 5 speed), and i can't get the bottom nut to undo :rant: :rant: :nuts:
any help would be apreicated. :D

Umm... sorry theres not alot i can say except keep at it. :doubt:

Whats the main problem, is it just too tight?

its as tight as a fishes ass lol (as dad would say), i'm to scared to hook into it , cous i might break something :doubt:

Lol yeh theyre bastards when they get tight.... camry's are bad for it.

As long as you're using a flare nut spanner; just go the hack... most of the time it feels like theyre going to break but ends up ok. :)

Also... make sure ya drown it in penetrating oil. (& not the kind you have in the top drawer of your dresser either lol)

also don't know if you realise that one part of the fuel filter is tightened through 2 nut's one on the actual filter... ie you have to use 2 spanners and twist in opposite directions... i bent my fuel filter alot before i noticed...

For the bottom one you need a 14mm flare nut spanner, and a good one not a cheap one. Lock the filter with a larger spanner then use the flare nut spanner. Make sure you are turning in the right direction also as remember the nut is upside down.

I used a cheap one and rounded the nut.
So use a good one dont be cheap!

So where do I pick these babies up from? Ive tried a normal open ended spanner with no success on the mrs' KR. So I gave up :)
