Hi, I'm looking for some guidance on sterio equipment.

I already have,(not installed)

Pioneer 50w x 4 Headunit with 2 preouts and 1 sub preout
Clarion 350w 4way 6x9's

I want to add,
6.5" splits to front
1 or 2 12" subs
amp to run 6x9's and 6.5" splits
mono block/s to run sub/s

What i need is advice on what to look for in the amps, wattages, RMS whatever that is, brands etc. What about a single 15" or 18" sub over a 12" or dbl 12" whats the diff in sound output. Splits crossover what is it, what does it do, do I need them.
Im not looking for an award winning noise maker, just something lound with good base. Around the 8 hungee mark

Regards Paul...

installing the stuff yourself? if not, you will get nothing for $800

keep the 6x9's run off the deck

get a 4 channel amp to run the splits and sub (Response 4x100, $300)
Get a Pioneer 306C in box for $189 (unless you can build your own box (recommended)
get a 4 channel wiring kit, 4 gauge for $60
get a set of Response 6.5" splits $150

Total: $699

youll get much better gear if your willing to shop around second hand though.

sterio??? base??? lol... 800 wont get you much champ... i know not every one has the same budget, but in the car audio scene it really is a case of you get what you pay for, that said woob has outlined a pretty compitent system, you might even want to look at the pioneer 301r i think it is, blue cone one, 2 of them would make a decent thud in your boot, and yes, you do need crossovers, they come with the splits when you buy them, things to look out for, brand is a big one... boss, rampage, soundstorm etc are all something i would steer clear of, low end pioneer and most of the jaycar stuff is excellent value, rms is what the amp can put out constantly... take no notice of the big flure 5000 WATTS MAX OUTPUT!!!! emblazoned on sony explod and boss boxes... it really doesnt mean a thing, look for decent rms ratings (4 channels 60-65 rms per channel, and a decent mono 300-400 rms) and stick to that, also buy you amp first then get your subs according to what load your amp makes its best power at (1ohm, 2ohm, 4ohm etc...) cos you dont wanna buy a sub and amp and realise you'll be really under-powering it, dissapointment ensues
