Hi all,

I am just wondering where people had their exhausts fitted and what they using.

I recently bought a rear muffler from Wolfys Auto One which I have now been told is illegal. As it was fitted before I discovered this I am stuck with it.

Also Midas in Darby Street Newcastle who fitted the system saw it fit to wheelspin my car out of their workshop for a "Test Drive". They also cut away the heat shield under the boot when their piping didn't fit.

I hope no-one else makes the same mistake.

I am now debating a red back system or just changing the rear muffler to a Zetti

firstly, how is it illegal? is it due to noise?

my exhaust hangs from all the proper mounts, even though i have a cannon on the back. for that they just made up brackets to use the proper mounts.

Yes, Midas and Wolfys blame each other which just leaves me $400 out of pocket.
Still doesnt excuse the fact I wasn't told how loud the muffler was when I explained I didnt want anything too noisy.
Also my heat shield should not have been cut and I have NEVER wheelspun my car.

if it is too noisey get a resonator put in.

EDIT: magtone beat me to it.

Thats because the majority of peole who work at wolfies are sales drones, and the majority of muffler fitters in Newcastle are Fwits.

I only use one fitter in Newcastle (Phil at wallsend mufflers), mainly because he knows his stuff and I have been going there for many years.

The wheelspin is he-said-she-said, but the illegality - you need specifics - too loud?

This is why you buy your muffler from the place who fits it...

Cheers

It has a resonator and a hot dog.
The people who sold it and who fitted it knew it was loud and no one tells me because they just wanted a sale. I hope my post costs them some business as they have cost me time and money.

The dick head fitter floored my car down the street wheelspinning as I pulled up.

Also why cut away at my car to fit their crap?

if it has both a ressy and a hotdog it can't be that loud. my last magna had the crappy little resonator and just the rear muffler and it wasn't that loud.

a falcon with 2.5" system and 2 full mufflers is borderline legal. it doesn't take much to make it illegal.

Wanna argue with Carline mufflers ? I can give you their number. He said its the loudest he has heard in a while.

It was quieter before I took it in when it was blowing from the middle

Thats awful, if some wanker drove and butchered my car like that i would drive off without paying...

I wouldn't waste your time or breath going back there.

Just go somewhere else and hopefully you'll find someone like where heathyoung takes his car.

unfortunately I had paid already and I am going back tomorrow to request nicely they fix it before I consider making a noise, pardon the pun.

Sounds like your problem is with Wolfy's Auto. Midas has fitted what you have supplied at your request. A reasonable person might agree that Midas had no way of knowing whether it is legal until after it is fitted as they did not supply it. Depending on what you asked for when you bought it from Wolfy's you may have an argument that they sold you a product that is not fit for purpose and so should be refunded or replaced. Did you ask for a standard replacement ? ... probably not I'd guess so you will have a battle to get any joy.
Sorry to be a wet blanket but we all get the absolute joy of learning these lessons at some time. :doubt:

I agree basically with what you have said but I did say I didn't want to make noise and what about how the wanker drove my car and hacked the heat shield?

Hi all,

I am now debating a red back system or just changing the rear muffler to a Zetti
I went complete Redback system. No droning, no dramas, nothing needed hacking or removing to get it in there. And it sounds fabulous

well I have booked in for a Redback on Wednesday ! Premier exhausts seem to really know their stuff.
