hi, today i went through drug bus and the cops went over my whole car, anyway they found that the engine clearence was less than 100mm or 110mm. i have king springs superlows on it. i rang tyrepower and they said i can get lows or higher profile tyres. at the moment there are 235x40x17, they said if i buy 235x50x17 this will fix the problem and my car wont be defective.
Does anyone know anything about this?, can someone help me?
Thanx

I Reckon Get Lows Put On Cos It Will Be Around $400
New Tyres Could Cost U Like $800

Superlows are illegal, well the height they sit at anyway. Just get lows... heaps cheaper than buying 4 new tires.

Agreed. Looks won't really be compromised. Ride quality will improve. Handling will almost certainly improve. And it's a much cheaper fix than the tyre option

Why on earth are you running 235/40/17..that puts your rolling diamter out by ALOT. You should be running 235/45/17 if your rims are 7.5-8" wide, or 225/50/17 if they are 7".

Switching to Lows would be a good move as well, if you value your handling.

so you got defected right?

if so dont do a thing!

just get a roady and get the defect cleared...

you would be supprised how many mechanics will rwc an illegally low car...

if worst comes to worst i have some unused coil locks they clamp on to the coils and either raise or lower the car ;)

thanks for the replies, sorry dude there 235x45x17, lol. To be honest i don't even know if my tyres would pass rwc test so i think i should go with buying new tyres, even though it would reduce handling, i take it pretty easy on it anyway. Can anyone tell me a good size to go that'll make my ride height not defectable but still look low.

Yeah i have to get a rwc and then get it checked by Vicroads, it didn't help that i don't have a no. plate on the front either, but i managed to talk my way out of that one lol
