Hey guys i just recently bought parabolics off ebay and had them installed by mitsubishi the other day. I knew they had a crack in them cause i saw it after i bought them but it was right down the bottom and not that noticeable. However after I got them installed mitsu told me that because there was a crack it had fogged up the lens of that light. Looking at it now it is very noticebly cloudier than the other light. I'm not sure if it was like this before I got it installed so my question is... is mitsubishi telling me the right thing? Could a crack (more like a hairline fracture) cause the outer lens to cloud up? I just don't know whether I'm meant to chase the guy that sold me the light or mitsubishi.

Crack could let in moisture, which when heated up by the light (or just generally being at a different than the outside) could cause fogging.
Actually, with the lights on, maybe it would be warm enough to act like a demister? Have you tried the lights on to see what effect it has?

Try filling the crack with heat proof clear silicone

Had a similar problem on my first Magna when I replaced the headlight glass and didn't seal it up properly

its not like a fogging up of the lens...its there 24/7 whether the lights are on or not. when u get up close it looks like lots of tiny scratches on the inside of the lens.

moisture has gotten in and degraded the lense ? maby pitted the surface or something im not sure about paras but on a normal set of headlights it will just peel off the refelctive backing on the read of the headlight and rewt them right up

Somewhere on this site there is a guide about how to remove the lenses from parabolic headlights. My suggestion would be to remove the lense, give the inside of the lense the best clean / hand polish you can, before smearing a tiny bead of silicone over the crack and refitting it all back together.
I assume you knew the headlights were 2nd hand when you purchased them??

I knew they were 2nd hand... didnt no they had the crack or teh foggyness... nothing was mentioned about it.
To take the lens off im assuming u gotta take out the whole light. And if i was confident withtaking them out and putting them back in i wouldnt have paid to have them installed.. :( correct me if im wrong.
