Here's an interesting story,
Went to dealer the other day to order Diamante badge + boot garnish (got the part number for the badge from a previous post) for my TH. Spare parts guy looked up on computer..."should have them tomorrow...factory has stock".
Got phone call the next day from him saying factory won't release them unless I give a genuine Diamante VIN !!!
He said if I got hold of a VIN then he'd get them for me.
Anyone else had this problem? I thought you could just get them no probs from a dealer.

haha what dealer? i scored a diamante badge a couple of years back and put the diamante part no# on here and people ordered it from that.
there should be no problems, some's had a bad day at mmal i think -- or they're catching on and dont want any more diamante bits getting out!
if you need a vin go to diamante.gweilo.org/forum and ask someone from there with a 2nd generation d (our 3rd generation magna) to pm you their vin#.

Thanks...might do that.
Also found this http://www.mitsubishicars.com/company/vin.html
Might be able to make one up from this.

Would also be better off if I gave them the part # for the boot garnish (which I didn't have).
Does anyone know the part # for the garnish ? I checked previous posts but could only find the # for the badge.

I'm not sure either. Maybe MMAL aren't happy with everyone driving with Diamante badges on? Not sure.

can someone please explain this need to badge their car as something else? fair enough change the lights or front bar or whatever to add to the look or cimfort of your car but why change the badges? its never gonna be a diamante and im not sure why so many people want them to be??? im very proud my car is a magna and not something else, especially not a toyota lexen badged as a commodore!!!!!!!!!! i know what sort of response that would get from everyone in here if it came up in a post!

Alright - Well if you stand so strongly on this topic send a personal message to blake who has the rear boot garnish, ash3 who has the badge, i have had a badge for years in storage, madmagna has a badge on aswell. I'm sure there's more aswell.
It's to be different. To stand out in the crowd.
I'm not going to stick the 3rd generation diamante badge on my car, im getting the 2nd generation diamante badge sent from overseas.

MAGWGN, if this is how you feel then why make any mods to your Magna at all, after all you are so proud of the fact you have a Magna.
I like something a little different, I like the name and I like the looks I get from people in general when they are working out what the hell the car actually is, especially with the brake lights, "D" front, cup holder etc.
I respect your thoughts on wanting to keep a Magna badge, how about you respect others for using Diamante Badges.
BTW, Lexon's are made by Holden in the Holden plant on the Commodore line......

Its like Holden Owners Sticking a Chev Badge on their Utes
Looks excellent too most of the time!
Yeah i hate commondores but i saw a VT with a chev badge on the boot instead of the GM badge, and it made me look at them in a different light

A lot of ppl who had old HQ's with 327's or 350's in them used to put the chev badges on there because they had a reason to: There was a chev V8 in there.
Maybe that's why they did it to the VT?
I dunno tho...it's not the same thing as we were talking about because there's no commodore equivalent with Chev. Whereas there is a Diamante which IS a magna.

Nothing beats a 3.8 Commo that has an "SS" badge on it LOL! For a moment I thought it was the real one until I heard the exhaust as well as how he lost to me flat out... Ooh another thing was that it was the old one, VX or something with the new VY badge heeheehee

I had no problem getting my badges (at least 5 now)...
If you need a VIN. Check out ebay under the Diamante cars for sale section... they ALWAYS have a VIN listed for any DEALER car.
Hope this helps
