if yo get the aftermarket mounts allow $100 each for front and rear
$150 maybe for the side mounts

3-4 hours labour

any mechanic/suspension place even k mart auto or ultra tune
can do this work ....engine doesnt have to come out

see engine mount removal post within tm-tp info posts

Good luck finding engine mounts that don't break monthly! So far all the stock mounts have broken, and the new ones have broken too. Even my sikaflex-reinforced ones have broken :(

For now I'm not spending another cent on engine mounts (already spent like $300 on them!)until I can find some decent ones, so let me know if you find some that last!

GUYS, just ask Megatron in the QLD section if he would be able to get some POLY mounts made up of you send him your buggered mount. I'm pretty sure he could - although there would of course be a fairly bad wait seeing as you gotta post it there, he's gotta give it to his poly man, post it back etc.. but they're around the $110 mark for the 2nd and 3rd gens so I can't see it being any more for 1st gens, plus you can get 'standard' 'street' and 'race' so if you're madkeen on getting some tough mounts, get some racing-hard poly mounts from Megatron - you might vibrate your car apart but they certainly won't break anytime soon!!

Check it out - HERE (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40338).

--got this second hand so dont know if info is correct

megatron needs your old first gen engine mounts so you cant just buy them from
him he makes a solid fill using your own mount in a one piece solid for just over 100 each

only way to do that is go to wreckers and buy old mounts or take your car off the road and send your mounts to him

anyway pm megatron to see what he can work out for you ??

Check the one under the air cleaner box too, above the transmission. There's one there too, although it doesn't really break often (mine has though, but 3/4 mounts break every few months or so too, which is really annoying!). I am seriously considering trying the poly mounts too, but thanks to alternator failing today, I'm not too happy about spending extra money on it right now... especially since it failed on the way to work, meaning i LOSE money thanks to it breaking since I was a few hours late to work... and as a result can't afford to get the new parts!

Sorry... bad mood tonight... especially since I have no time to fix it, and new extractors are getting installed on weekend in morning... except I can't move the car until I fix the alternator!

i got mine aftermarket through autobarn, the only trick was to press them out and press new ones back in, but 3 out of 4 are done, i just take my time and do one at a time. now i just have to try and get the rear one out, i guess ill allow a couple of hours to change it. and i wont say how much i paid for them :P cause unless you are working at an aftermarket place there isnt much of a chance of getting all 4 for my price :P

when u do the rear allow a day for it cos it's a pain. undo the gear box mount cos it makes it easyer and a torch even if u are doing it in the day time. have fun , that one took me all arvo and was hard when it started to get dark. alot of fresh skinned knuckles and swearing that day.

haha yeah i had a look at it, seems its probably easier on the stands so i can get under it and do it from underneath. might get a mate to give me a hand though, might get slightly difficult to undo the bolt that runs through the middle of it with 1 person
