hey all, just wondering if anyone knows how to rig up one of thoose chromatic rear view mirrors off an Xi verada? i got one today from a rollover and the plug was ripped out the socket when the windscreen broke. im hoping its just 12v but that would be too easy. thanks!

There will be 12V but may also be an output for the drivers side mirror as it also tilts/chromatically tints.

ur a genious! i pulled it apart and those frighfully clever people at mitsubishi have labled the connectors! unfortunately they have the pins soldered over them :( anyway i wondered what the +o, -o were for.....OUTPUT as greenmatt says!

next step hooking up to 12v and seeing what happens lol

Might be worth going back and grabbing the internals of the wing mirror if the wiring is already there. Its quite nice to have it dip/dim too for 4wds/trucks. Also does it still have its boot carpet? If so dibs if you are going back, or can you pm me where it is?

No worries mate. The mirrors are pretty generic, I have seen the same unit in a Grand Cherokee.

I love in the electrochromatic rear view mirrors in my Rada but too bad the centre one shakes like a mofo when the car is idling. Anyone else have this problem?

Not mine, my old TE mirror used to vibrate a lot from the subs, my KL much less so.

i give up! i dropped the screw driver and it scratched the dash and i cracked it and grabbed the mirror to yank the basted off but in that split second i though of having to replace the windscreen so im going to dremmel it out much cheaper than a new windscreen.

the mirror slides up, towards the roof lining.

and if its loose, you can try bending the two curved tabs in towards the centre.
or buy a new one. common problem.

its as tight as a fishes **** couldnt get it to budge thats why i had to use a hacksaw to get it off. couldnt press the clip without putting pressure on the wind screen. heres a pic of what could happen. that black stuff on the right is actually glass!

and the service manual is wrong there is NO BUTTON!

it has a mount that glues on the wind screen and the mirror slots into it and its held on with a clip. heres a pic of the mount. i think its the same as the TJ, but might be different with earlier models.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but does anyone know how much a EC mirror for a 3rd gen or 380 costs from Mitsubishi? Might be interested in fitting one to my 2nd gen if its not too hard or too expensive. (Unlikely)

i paid 140 for the 380 one. i found an old AT power supply connector that goes to the motherboard fits the plug on the mirror perfectly!
