Hey guys,
3rd gen TH magna, having battery problems. If the car is left for say 1 day or 2 without starting the battery becomes like completely flat dead. Now, no lights are seen on etc, could there be something draining this ? The battery is less than couple months new because it was happening before, and it didnt happen for a while til the car was left for the day.
Also, the car was driving in the afternoon one day, next day around lunch the battery was completely dead again. This due to not being driven? (the car is used by partner and not driving long distances) but finally got it jump started and took it for a long drive, and hasnt happened in the next couple days.
Just wondering, is this an electrical problem? alternator on the way out/broken? or what exactly should I be checking/looking for before I fork out money at an auto elec?

no if you have a multi meter check the alternator charge at the battery
my guess you have a dead cell in battery
if the battery is running low the computers need a good battery on that model
for trouble free comuting

welcome to winter. it is time for a new battery. a battery can work fine in warm weather then as soon as it gets cold it will go flat over night. the cold weather kills batteries that are getting a bit old.

Being a NEW battery, I would be getting it tested via a multimeter or whatever you can get your hands on to show voltage read out. I would have to agree with 'buff' thinking there might be a problem with your alternator. If your alternator is working fine then you more then likely have a leak somewhere, failing that go back to where ya bought it from (most batteries have 12mnth warranty) n say it doenst work :D

but the thing is, we were having exact same problem on old battery, but now its started again with the new battery only say 1-2 months after buying it.

If the battery is always going flat, you must have a current draw causing the drain! Unless you know how to use a multimeter and check for amps being drawn, see an auto electrician or competent mechanic.
Check the alternator, if OK then the battery is faulty. You changed battery yourself or at autoelectrician? In any case you should have warranty and be able to make claim , if battery is at fault.

Ok too me it sounds as though your loosing power thru an electrical fault somewhere... Reason Ive come to this conclusion, you say it doenst happen if you drive your car, therefore your alternator is working and charging your battery... When you leave the car stationary for a period of a day or two, your alternator is working (obviously) so therfore the current is getting drawn from the battery elsewhere. Autolecy will find this for ya, it will cost ya some dollars, but by finding the problem it could also eliviate an electrical fire.

check the starter motor /solenoid it is direct connect to the positive side of the battery
best way is to have someone read the volts at cranking
