yeah they will work better, sounds good mate, i can sort of get an idea from your drawing, just keeps those amps cool, and keep the seals air tight around the speakers against the board. im allmost done my boot, should be done by the weekend, ill post picks.

I'm not 100% sure on whether or not 6x9s would work better in an enclosure or not. I think some people have put them in boxes with positive results, but don't forget that they're ultimately designed to be run free-to-air.
Is there really a need for four sets of 6x9s though? For the price (~$100 per pair?), you could get a set of cheapie Pioneer subs. If you want sound quality, get good splits up front. If you want, get good subs up back. Since I'm guessing you want something showy (if you didn't, I'd say get one really good sub and amp).... I'd rather four 12" subs then two 12" subs and 8 6x9s

Hell if your going to this sort of expense, why not 4 12 inch Mid Spec Subs??
Would take up the same sorta space but offer maximum Boom for Buck..

thats the kinda input i want here people that is good .. umm... there is HEAAAAPS of bass already im lookin for overall loudness and clarity ..help me out people .. what do i need ..since it is a wagon i want to able to put the back up and be able to hear it easily and cleary from a fair way away(i already can) ..keepin in mind there is tonnes of bass already how can i get it just like it is but FU&^*in LOUD

if you are after clarity 6x9's arent your friend. get some nice amped splits and get your gains right
sounds like you want PA speakers. nothing gets habibs attention from 200m better than a pair of Bose 18".

Buying heaps of cheaper speakers won't sound as clear as one really good set of speakers. Four $100 sets of speakers won't magically sound as good as a single $400 pair - they'll sound just like a $100 pair :)
Speaker wise, just get a really good set of splits up front. Add a set of 6x9s in the back if you want your passengers to cop some noise - make sure they're somehow directed at the passengers though, if you're just putting them in the boot.... they're not going to do much.
Sub wise, it's up to you. You seem to have a reasonable budget, if I was in your position I'd probably go for two mid-spec 12" subs in a ported box. If you want four cheaper 12" subs for a bit of show, then sure, but for the love of God, don't put 6x9s in the boot :P

And change your avatar... it makes you look like a poser :bowrofl:

righto righto ..ill change my avatar:rant: ..two comment about my avatar in 4 hours is enough lol..everybody has a car but ..hmm ... im thinkin ....another thing ..ya cant see into the car through the tint ..its chrome and DARK...but sshhh (maybe a bit too dark) :P..they are not cheaps 6x9's in it at the moment people ..well they are moderatley priced about 200 per pair .. i dunno how many Db's it is ..a few but .. does anybody know how many db's you would need to get that ringin in ya ears after ya turn it down coz thats what i get when i crank it lol :D .. what would a typical decent system be puttin out ?? i have no idea about that kinda thing ..

One question though, why do you have the enormous amount of speakers in the back anyway... shouldn't the ICE setup benefit you and your passengers rather than an empty spot in the boot? Or is this just wank factor :doubt:

dunno ..we are half crazy we just want to put ***in heeeapss of speakers everywhere lol not just in the back ..like a mini pioneer car or sumtin lol .. we want to see how loud we can get it to go .. comps and stuff later prob ..we are goin for max Db too haha..think about ti like this ...think of the most speakers you have heard of in a car ....we want more than that ...haha

just coz u have alot of speakers, wont give max db...just look at the people with single 10s beating others with dual 12s and more...
imo if you want a showy stereo car, make doubly sure the rest of the car is up to the standard, otherwise most people will just roll their eyes at the gear u bought from strathfield, thats distorting because u have it cranked more than it can handle.
think about it for a few weeks/months, plan the look, maybe go some fibreglassing, then come back to this thread and re-post ur thoughts... u'll find they should change, and make a better setup.
u want a show car, or a 'look-at-me-i-just-bought-some-speakers-and-awesome-padels' car? ;)
youll get stuff all dB out of your setup, bet you anything i'd beat you with my single 10".
ringing in ears would occur from AROUND 100-105dB of full range sound, which i get out of my front speakers alone atm. SPL competitions measure the sound coming from your subs, not your speakers.
to be honest, the attention you would get from the setup you are proposing would be 99% from P plater bogans, and non-P plater bogans.. i dont mean to sound rude, but its the only way to try to snap some sense into you :P
ive got a 1000W RMS 2 channel running mono to sub, and a 4x125W RMS D class running my fronts active, itll go WAY louder than most of the people who spam their car full of crap, and its built to compete in sound quality competitions, not to go loud.
as a side note.. the other day i turned my sub off and closed the car doors to demo some music to a mate of mine, his brother comes out of the grannyflat 40m away, through 5 brick walls, to see where the hell the bass was coming from. now thats cool.
spend the money on sound deadening and high quality components instead of lots of cheap crap (note: $200 pioneer 6x9's suck the big one, spend the $400 you would spend on 2 sets, and get a pair of Vibe rectangular 6x9's, and they will destroy them.)
its quality, not quantity. though my advice does not apply if you are just after the boganish bling factor, so disregard it :)

Now i could be completely wrong here but someone can either confirm my comment or shut me down ahhaha. i think i remember reading this somewhere
On the "adding speakers everywhere to get maximum db" comment. Adding speakers might not get you the gains you think you willl get. if you have one 12 inch sub putting out 130db, and you add another sub of exactly the same type and input power, the most gains you can ever get from that addition is 3db. so the second sub would only take it up to 133db max running the same config.
So by slamming in speakers everywhere you might not be getting the gains that you think. spend the money on something that will go hard. not distort and blow up after 1 month.
Once again shut me down if i am wrong (woob or tim im looking your way)

i dont reckon you boys are bein rude r nothin so dont worry about that .. if i wanted all nice comments i wouldn't post stuff on this forum lol .. i need to know this kinda stuff ..imnot tryin to be a ***wit bogan like everybody else thats why im askin this stuff ..haha .. im sick of these people that get there p's and think they are hectic becuase they have a 150 sub from supercheap as much everybody else ..i know when i see that all i do is laugh haha .. :bowrofl: ..followed by walkin away and more laughin.. does it come down to the type of music yu listen to aswell .. i havent been to a comp before hey ..i listen to trance and techno and all that big bass .. my subs havent ditorted yet .. they used to when i had a supercheap amp ..lol..(my bad) ..ill just have to look around at what other people wh actually compete are usin i think .. i dont want fibreglass in the install i really couldnt be that ***** with that hey ..sumtin for laughs anyway .. i just got asked on msn ..why isnt this guys subs goin that good ...i asked him what they were mounted in and he said a flat peice of formwork ply ...lol perfect example if a knob ..hahaha no box or nothin made me laugh a bit p.s i got a better avatar for you boys :P
yeah i'd recommend you go to a competition and have a talk with some of the guys there, at most comps there are people there dedicated to helping people out with their installs and recommending upgrades, and helping them tune etc.
well.. at least at my competitions i assign a few people to this task.
youll learn plenty there, brands to go with, methods for doing things, all that type.
i'd also recommend visiting www.mobileelectronics.com.au and asking questions in there.

wat could be a good idea to think of, is lining the corners of the wagon (side corners) with ur subs, and maybe one or two 6" speakers for some treble... imagine it like a long sub box, like a big toblerone in the sides of ur wagon... this setup will still let the subs get the sub boxes they require, with the right amount of air...it will also give u the space in the wagon, so u can still use it as a wagon...it will be more discreet, and just look like a pro setup, rather than a DIY job. could do it all in MDF, lined with suede... would probably look pretty good :)

sorry boys ..one more thing while im here ..eeek .. what is the prob if when i rev it with the radio turned down i get a buzzin noise that increses loudness with the revs ...its soo annoying
have you got your power cables running along side your rca cables? the noise you are experiencing is line noise, tuned to the rpm your car is doing :)
2 most likely causes are either bad grounding, or the above. your amp ground should all be earthed to the same position to help prevent it also.

Alternator noise, or you've got your RCA leads on the same side of the car as the power leads... ferrite suppressors should help this...

...so i physically have to move to rca's away from the power cables..yes the power calbles to the amps are runnin immediately alongside the rcas from headunit .. this is bad ?

Every one is at differant levels of completion. Even differant levels of standard.
My system (as you seen in "How do i make this look good?" http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47677 ) is incomplete, but i hope to make it realy standout. Other's systems, are very simple efective setups. Dont be ashamed at what you have.

Take a leaf outta woobs little black book... 136+ db from a single ten, in a big ass family sedan mind you, is pretty impressive in my books, if you want to hear your music when you got the boot open or something, then yeh, i decent set of splits isnt outta the question, but 4 sets of 6x9's, splits etc... is a bit "im going down to maccas to show habib how much more sick i am than his other cousin a-hab teh a-rab" keep it simple and neat, much more respect to be had that way:D

i am a habib..what??...haha nah not really ive got a wagon dont forget here .. there is tonnes of rooom and yeah ..i have changed my plans now anyway im gettin mor 6 inchs and that instead of soo many 6x9s ..i just want a tidy clear and loud system ..its not that hard is it?.. i also want to the system to look balanced and even when you look at it like a mirror down the middle ..i like stuff neat nad tidy and my install is goin to be NO exception ( i especially want that mad) it will be .. i just gotta get cash and time .. and science im not ashamed of my system mate lol i really am moving house haha .. dont really know why you would think that hey..

You wanted to fill your wagon with 6x9's  6x9's are gay! :bowrofl:
Instead of wasting so much money on MORE gear try investing in some SERIOUS gear first. No offence on your current setup as I don't even know what you have. Just saying if you want louder upgrade what you have, don't just add more.

I also said don't get more stuff, get better stuff. Remember more is less or is it less is more? (well in this case) lol
But I can understand you want something to show off and I guess a few nicely powered speakers wouldn't look as good as 8 underpowered one :P

hmmmm
Seriously, I would almost start totally fresh from the sound of your system...
You want LOUD while still maintaining sound quality... Not gonna happen with a boot full of speakers.
Much better idea:
A GOOD 10" or 12" sub with a solid custom box
A set of GOOD 6" splits for the front
Fully sound deaden your front doors and MDF speakers mounts
A GOOD 2 channel amp for the splits
A GOOD monoblock am for the sub
2 guage cable from battery with quality RCAs and speaker cable.
New good quality battery
Upgrade earthing from your battery
I think I have emphasised GOOD quality gear enough... That is the key.
If you want rear speakers (which will help the volume a bit) this will cost more in another set of speakers and another quality amp. But a GOOD set of splits or coaxials for the rear and a decent 2 channel amp would be the way to go. Or even a decent 4 channel to power fronts and rears in the one amp.
The above system will go just as loud but sounds HEAPS better than the system you are proposing, as it has the correct focus from the start... quality components.
Cheers
Pete

i agree with poita. But even a car full of GOOD gear can sound horible. Take for example, the White VT commodore wagon that made an appearance at bayswater maccas on tuesday night. A very nice installation, featuring (boot only) 6x 15" Polk Momo subs, 4x 6" polk momo co-axials, and 4 amps. All good stuff. the box was fibre glass. Very nice. But. and this is a big but, The angles on the subs coused some serious cancelation. And the speakers where being overdriven on a full range crossover (or lack there of a crossover). The speakers where distorting very baddly, the bass waas minimal. When he pulled up, he got an instant crowd. He turned it on and up, and the crowd grew. Then the crowd started listening to what it sounded like, and the crowd disapeared, muttering under their breath. You dont want to be that bloke do you.
I was making more, higher quality sound with my Front splits, and 2x 12" subs.
