Ok finally got round to fitting Emanage i bought off ebay awhile ago and i was wondering are you suppose to feel a difference straight away, as it idle's a little higher now and i can feel the power difference and i haven't had it tuned yet.

Is this normal or is my car just freaky.

the defaukt settings are probably set slightly different to ur stock tune ?

the default settings if its new wont have any settings, it just filters through and doesnt alter the signal

i think its just your mind playing with ya, no one has had any huge gains with greddy unless you have a fairly modified car?

placebo

U need to tune it to your engine dude, other wise no much diff there. If u have no other mods, it might give u some max 5% more grunt. More with other mods. Endless vicious cycle....

I got around 12h.patw on top of cams cam gears etc etc etc...dyno tuned with the greddy. can't expect too much without tuning. if you are feeling heaps more power it maybe leaning out way too much

You could be right about that, But wouldn't that make it ping?
BTW it's definitely not placebo.

leaning out the stock tune is a good thing... if it starts pinging you'll be losing power too

yes leaning out the tune is good. you will save fuel. not you won't lose power if it is pinging. you will have max power when it is pinging.

what rapid ignition of mix ahead of the spark plug firing?? no smooth combustion from a point...

Dunno bout that

that's preignition, not detonation. pre ignition is caused by a hot spot in the bore or piston, or a spark plug that is too hot. this can also run on in non fuel injected cars.

pinging is just uneven flame path, but it does result in 100% fuel burn.

you will definately need to tune it mate, just fitting it will do sfa and may even be detrimental especially if its second hand. ie, if you fit an emanage from a modded 180sx into your otherwise stock magna......

i would of thought the main ECU would assist in adjusting timing.....do you have both ignition and injector harnesses?...having said that i would be careful not to burn valves out if it is too lean....good job installing it yaself tho...i CBF, plus i had other stuff done.

Thanks mate, yes i have both harnesses installed and will be getting it tuned in about two weeks time.how do you know if it's too lean??

with a wideband o2 sensor, plus you should be able to hear it ping.

So if i give a good hard drive around and i don't hear any pinging it should be all good.:)

i cant imagine you will hear any pinging in these cars....and a lot of pinging goes unheard. get it tuned for sure...if ya feel a difference great...if ya dont then you are probable saving your engine a bit. make sure you ask for a before and after dyno

Yeah, dude I would unplug it if you haven't already. I can't imagine it doing your engine any good at all man. Wait till you can get it tuned properly.

and an uneven/oscillating pressure wave.. doesn't matter the cause, knock/pinging is bad for power. (http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/article.html?&A=0601)
