View Full Version : Just attempted to get my pink slip
Failed on rusted muffler
Failed on front park lights
Failed on both rocker covers leaking oil
Ok, now the front park lights for Parabolics, whats the deal with them? are they seperate bulbs from the driving lights and high beams???

Three bulbs, two reflectors. Parker bulb is in the normal headlight reflector under the Headlight bulb, the high beam is in its own reflector next to that.
I recall there being some differentiating with a model of Verada not having the parking lights at all in the headlight... I think it was the KR (non-parabolic) because the front bar has lights.
definately came from a KS Verada. i have the picture of the vehicle they came off. I will check out the parkers in a minute.
How much am i looking at for the rocker gaskets being replaced?

Yep, KS parabolics have parkers in them, the KR had them in the front bar. Don't forget, they're BA9S (bayonet) bulbs, not the T5 (T10?) wedge connectors.
u can change the gaskets yurself they are pretty easy to do.
i think its about $30 or so for a gasket its been a while since i had to change one

front one is very easy. Rear one is a tad harder, take off your air intake, and your intake plenium (about 7 bolts)
Once thats off the rear cover is as easy to replace as the front one.
what so i undo the rocker bolts, take off the rocker cover, and put new gasket on and bolt up??
also, there is oil leaking from my oil filler cap. is this common?
Parker bulbs have been replaced for the pricely sum of $1.18 at my local Repco :bowrofl:
so all i need now is a new muffler. ideas?

Make sure the pcv is working. Lost of threads on this.
Bend the spring clip on the inside of the oil filler cap so it holds on tighter and buy a new seal for it or alternatively just buy a new cap.

Muffler - not much u can do, replace it
Lights - put stockys back in for rego check
Oil leaking - Bah, get some degreaser and get rid of all the gunk/oil etc then polish everything up and take it straight to them and say u got it done yesterday :)

i took the PCV off last week and soaked it in carb cleaner because it was totally blocked. Replaced the breather hoses too. I think the oil filler cap is ****ed though

is it in good condition?
nuttin at all wrong with it it will bolt straight on.
if you have a few hundred bucks sitting around, why not get a cat back system? May as well get a nice sounding muffler while the current needs replacing.

then he would have to get the DB checked on it which might make things harder when getting the pink slip.
oil leaking from the cap is very common. like said before, check PCV valve.
rear rockerbox doesnt require the intake to be taken off. i have done this many a time before with the intake still on and leaving it on will save you at least a couple of hours in removal and refitting and also save you an intake manifold gasket set.
