View Full Version : Nice one.. Trust me..
Yeah so.. I've got something weird going on, My 3L man 93 dies when turning right. Now it's hard right, say going through a roundabout etc.. Now this doesn't happen when turning left, so..
Idea's?

It dies while turning left, but it doesn't happen when turning left??
interesting.....
And if you turn left when going through roundabouts........ you should hand in your licence mate.

dont turn it full lock, you are putting too much pressure on the steering pump

Well he did say it was an interesting problem lol
Does it do it at speed or only near idle? As someone else suggested, it's probably because of the extra load created on the motor by the power steering pump.
In my car, without an idle speed control motor, you can hear the motor start to labor near full lock as the idle speed drops. If you give it some more throttle, does it help?
dont take corners ar 60km/h :S problem solved!

Dont take corners at all..:P get a LSD and go straight..:P
Or make use of the E brake..:P
Ok ok, post fixed you smart-****s, no full lock turns, taking a corner at say 40-50kph. Decent enough but not too fast and not leasurely. If I go at a normal pace it's ok, hard under brakes and taking a left turn has done it too I think, once..

Okay then, so does it only do it under a certain amount of fuel in the fuel tank?? If so, it is related to the position of the fuel pickup in the fuel tank and the fact that at low levels, all the fuel will "swish" to the other side of the tank during right hand cornering.
The only solutions are not to drive fast around corners with less then 1/3rd of a tank, or get a surge tank / external fuel pump installed. For most people, the latter isn't really an option.

Funny thing is I only first felt it on almost a full tank.
So it's not starving for fuel, it dies.. I hear the 'CLICK' of the accessories (ECU? I don't know).. but it's rather interesting..
if you think it might be your ECU disconnect your battery overnight and let it reset, give that a shot and see if it makes a difference

Second or third gen (both had 3l)
Could be your ecu and fuel pump relay which in the second gen is located under the glove box, could be a loose connection, the force of the turn is causing things to move and thus the temp loss of power.....don't laugh, had this happen in a commo which had been in an accident, when he turned sharp right the harness was moving slightly and there was a broken connection which parted when the pressure was there

Nice idea. Kudos. I shall check it out the next time I have the time to pull that apart.
2nd gen (points to avatar photo).
Well I rang my mechanic for some ideas and he said to check the plugs on the alternator, checked one this morning but to no avail.
I have also noted some things about it:
The car dies and then seems to 'come alive' again, even with the clutch in, so it doesn't completely die, it restarts itself. Also I don't loose power to my headlights (Well my dash lights don't die).
So I'm thinking this isn't anything to do with the major power lines with the car, it must be a relay like Madmagna said. Although I do loose power to the headunit.
