I've now got tweets in the delta covers in my door, i'm finding the treble overpowering and drowning out a fair bit of the sound, thinking i should re-aim them, just want to know if anyones experimented with this and found a good place to aim the tweets.
Another question while i'm putting up this new thread, I know that this is a repeat thread but i cant find the thread where i read it. Anyway, i have a bulk pack of dynamat, just want to know where i should be sticking it. in the doors.
just between the door trim or all throughout the door or anywhere else.

go to your local mitsubishi parts centre
and pick up some verada tweeter pods
they sit behind your side mirrors
they replace that black triangle bit
part numbers floating around somewhere

tell me about it being **** when the tweet is too close to your head. but i just have the tweets pointing in the direction the 3rd gen delta mounts point them, and they're just too overbearing. The frequency response is far from linear. Grr! I got these speakers for their ability to produce a very close to linear response at almost all listening levels. The seperation from the midbass driver is a bit of an issue too, i'm thinking of moving the tweet alltogether to the kickpanel like in tims car.

My tweets are in the stock 2nd gen speaker posy. Under the grills at the base of the A pillars on the top of the dash.
They sound fine.

Perhaps insted of redirecting them you can check the tuning of them, maybe bump down the high freq on your EQ?
Mine are currently where the 4" (3rd gen verada) speakers sit. So they're pointing into the windscreen. Too my personal tastes the tweets are still a bit harsh so i bumped the high freqs down on my HU EQ
if you get adventurous, stick em on the A pillars firing at the windscreen, and get the positioning right, get a really good center image if done properly, and a big stage depth :)

I agree. Been told by many people in the know that this best place to put them in most cases.

with my second gen, i found that mounting the tweeters on the kick panels, in the footwells, facing the opposite passenger (drivers side facing passenger) was a good way of cleaning up a harsh tweeter. i had Pioneer TS-C series splits (CRAPPP) and this helped them heaps.

I have mine on the top of the dash, in the TJ there is a little round panel thing for tweeters to sit on. Mine actually fire pointing arcoss the car but pointing slightly forward so that they fire across the front windscreen, not pointed directly into the glass but on an angle rather than aiming them directly at my head. It seems to work well i think.

Guys thanks for all the help on this. I've been super busy so i havent had the chance to get to a pc with internet access for a few days... locked out of home
On friday i scored myself some spare time, which i used to dynamat the crap inside and out of my doors, and cut up some mdf baffles to replace those dodge plastic ones. This improved the midrange response 10 fold!!!
Now the splits are sounding sosososoooooo much better! Very close to having a linear response, and more importantly i'm happy with how they sound. Hey and about the snappy-ness before, i was pissed off because i wasnt getting good sound out of my jl audio zr-650's (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=65) - which are meant to be the best splits JL make!

Good to hear mate. So your tweeters are still in the delta covers? You can always connect some temporary extension speaker wire to them and blu-tak them all over the car till you find a good position for em. I tried this myself with my type-x 6.5" splits and found (for my ears) the best spot to be on the A pillars firing towards each other parallel with the windscreen. Haven't had the time or money to get some custom pillars made up for em, so they are my delta covers for now. May have a crack at mocking some up myself.
