Hey guys!

Firstly i would like to introduce myself.

Gregorys the name

been reading this forums for awhile now (i use to own a th exec, but have sold that and drive a ford atm) but just never got round to posting anything. so in the mean time id like to say thanks to all those people who wrote articles to help me out.

now to the main point of this thread, im plannin on getting a vrx next. now what id need help with is as the title suggest mods for it.

in terms of power outputs, what id really like to know is what mods can i do to
a)bring it up to the ralliart level; or
b)getting 200kws from it

i mainly intend to use it as a daily driver (so user friendlyness is obviously high on priority along with reasonable fuel consumption - although i know this one aint going to be great to begin with)

without going all out in terms of money though, if neither of those options are attainable, what mods would i be looking at to give it abit more poke than standard (i drove one from work over last xmas period and it was such fun, but a bit more shove wouldnt hurt would it)

itd be good to hear from people about what they would recommend or possibly their advice on personal experiences (ie, whether mods like exhaust systems and etc are or arnt worth the money, etc..)

i do apologise if there is a thread out there that has adressed this question already but i couldnt find any mod guides specific for the vrx.

thanks in advance guys for any contributions and if theres anything i can do please let me know!

cheers!

gday well depending the money you have,i heard supercharged vrxs go hard, a guy called phil in wa ive heard is pritty aws,and another guy called micjay has a fully sick supercharged vrx!
as for some other mods get a RPW CAI and RPW performance extractors and your basicaly set,if you want to spend abit more pm a guy called "THE EGO"
IMO hes the best vrx ive seen on the AMC and has put alot of effort and alot of work into his VRSEX :)
and hes done alot of mods to his 3.5 v6:cool:

you can spend say under $500 for CAI...will get a good noise, may add to 'seat of ur pants' speed

exhaust, kinda pointless, stock vrx exhaust is alrite as is, and extractors will get u less than 5kw...but not worth the money imo

then ur really talking either NA, or forced induction

forced induction has supercharger, or turbo. go supercharger, ur looking atleast 6k for the sprintex kit (and they have very few left). Turbo, ur looking over $10k

NA, probably take u over $10k to do cams and headwork, and new ECU etc...

thems about the options :) basically takes a bit of cash to get the car anywhere above 170kw. now u need to decide if u really want/need to! oh and welcome lol

*Edit*look for a manual if u can...this will give u the best performance. even with minor work, an auto cant keep up with a stock manual. u want cheap performace asap, get the manual now ;)

definitly dont settle for an auto if your after performance.... there is quite a difference between the auto and manual and it will cost you thousands to get an auto up to running the same times as a stock manual... have you considered buying a manual ralliart? or are you not a fan of the body kit like many others? cause ralliarts arent that much more $$ these days than vrx's

if u want a power like ralliart then buy a ralliart as stated above theres not much difference in price these days and take it from there. and welcome to the forums:thumbsup:

hey guys

thanks for all the input so far!

i understand what you guys are tryig to say about getting a ralliart to being with but honestly, that body kit...not my cup of tea... and as for the pricing, i had a quick squiz thourgh carsales just then and i think theres at least 5k diff b/w them with a similar sort of condition (ie, kms, tranny, etc) and thats alot of difference (for me at least) to spend at one go.. (bcus in terms of mods i can slowly build things up as i go.)

and thanks for the manual tip (i though the 5 speeder tippy in the magna was good enough - was going to get an auto hehe)!

iv read somewhere that the ralliart comes with an lsd (does this come in the vrx as well?) and if not how much am i roughly looking @ to be getting one?

and quickly another question, for rims, what size should i be able to hit comfortably without throwing off the cars balance or any of the sort ? (18-19-20 inch?)

thanks again for all the input! - much appreciated!

ps. nice ride ego

vrx doesnt come with a LSD.. quite honestly its probably the best part of the ralliart over a VRX.. chuck a vrx into a corner and gear back and you'll spin up the inside wheel like nothing else.. do the same with the LSD and it'll pull through with next to no wheel spin..

you wouldnt get much change out of $2000 to put an LSD into a VRX (aftermarket that is, a genuine mitsu LSD is to expensive.. $4000 or something stupid). Mr Ego will be able to tell you more about it though, his done just what your asking about...

dont go bigger than 18's with good tyres for performance

i got 20's and it drives well..... but with no suspension and hard compound tyres it's proably not the best...

with anything bigger than 18's the wheel weight goes up to much and the braking acceleration and economy is effected only a lil bit though
