Hey guys ive noticed a little prob with my tf...

when i strart her up occasionally (has happaned twice in 2 weeks) it ideals a bit rough and theres some smoke coming out of the exhust.... i give it a bit of a rev and the smoke stops and the ideal returns to as i shoul be.

At first i thought it was jst some rubbish in the fuel lines but smoking similiar but i not 100% sure as im not that mechanically minded....

any ideas? im due for a service in about 500km's with the last one being done 4500km ago...

oil levels are all good...

any ideas/ suggestions?

Smoke colour?????

If its blue then its oil and its probably your valve stem seals.

Does the motor use water?

white is either coolant, water or brake fluid

coolant snd water levels are fine... haven't needed to top them off....

same with brake fluid..... jst a question... how would brake fluid go through the exhust?

Here's my super fix-all solution to idle hassles lol : clean the PCV valve on the driver's side of the front tappet cover. It blocks with old dead oil and debri and cannot vent pressure from the crankcase. Therefore pressure in the block gets high and esp at low rpm will disrupt idle quality and fuel econ. It's easy to remove and clean, 5-10min job tops.

As for the smoke, well again the TF isn't last year's model so there are plenty of tired seals and tolerances to check. Sure it's not just moisture in the exhaust when you start in the mornings? Remembering too that the cars run richer on startup.

Good hunting.

ummmm...wats a PCV and wats the tappet cover... lol  .... ???

and i think you might be right, might be the condensation in the exhust system... i jst found it werid that it was happanin in the middle of the arvo.... after ive driven it for about 15mins it seems to clear up almost completely....

Hi i am having problems with my idling too... so what do i have to do? tried pulling out the PVC part, where do i have to clean? do i have to pull out both sides of the PVC?
Cheers,
Jared

It would help ;)

Remove the PCV from the car (little plastic elbow). There is a spring loaded valve that gets gummed up. Use the head of a flathead nail to gently scrap crud out of the valve. Use kero or other degreaser to clean it up. A cotton bud is useful too. Let us all know if this helps at all guys. Cheers.
