Rang Midas Cannington today to confirm their initial quote of $280 to get my timing belt changed on my TH 3.5 Auto. As i mentioned in another post they quoted me $280 but this was without looking at any pricing and they didnt sound certain of this price either.

Today rang back to ask them for the quote again, this time they looked through pricing and labour and quoted me $250 including labour-WOOT WOOT, considering my car accident thats gonna cost me $700 this bargain makes me a little bit happier.

So anyone looking to get their timing belt change on a magna similar to mine might wanan give them a call, my car is booked for tusday morning. :D

the Manual (gregs) states 5 years or 100,000kms

mines a 98 so would this need to be done??

Thats cheap eh! makes me a bit happier now since i thought it would cost $500

Dude I've used Midas before in Cannington and have NOTHING positive to say.

If they are still being run by the same guys as two years back shop around.

Well got the timing belt done today with Midas Cannington, I found them to be pretty good and I had no complaints. The only thing was that the front engine mount was brocken ( i was there to see it myself) so I had to get a new one, Midas rang about 10 different places to get a second hand one and couldnt find it. So had to get a new genuine Mitsibishi front engine mount which cost and extra $275

With this water pump issue, i have been told that if the timing belt has been changed correctly then this should not be an issue, if something does go wrong with it I will hold Midas in complete responsibility for it as obviously they were not careful enough.

But now I am poor and there will not be any more mods on my magna for about 6 months :(

expenses to pay this week
Timing belt change: $250
Front engine mount replacement: $275
New Tyres: $450
Repairs to car at panel beaters: $700
K&N CAI: $400
Speeding Fine: $150
Rego: $240

Grand Total: $2465
This is about 2/3 of what I have saved over the past 6 months- all gone in one week
