Well i bought a ralliart magna a few weeks ago  and i've noticed that when its in 'D' (on the highway) and i move it to tiptronic its in 4th and the only way i can get it to go into 5th is with the tiptronic no matter what speed its at... so, just wondering if theres an easy fix like resetting the ecu or should i take it to mitsubishi and have them look at it or is this normal???

thanks in advance :D :D

get the dealer to check it out, i dont htink an ecu reset would really help but it may...

possibly they thrashed the cu*t out of if before it was delivered to you, when i flog mine the ecu learns that style and thinks you are going to redline it all the time and the trans anticipates this and wone upshift...

you could try dis connectint the negative batt terminal for a few min then take it for a drive as you normally would, also it wont go into 5th under 50km/h

maybe this is how its suppose to work.. ???
maybe the auto is actually in 4th.... so when you move it across its just showing the current gear... when you say any speed, have you tried hi speed (ie 150km/h) .. i guess another auto ralliart owner is about the only person that can help you

hey thanks for the replys, i'll try the ECU reset this weekend an see what happens...

yeah hi speed it still stays in 4th while in 'd' (on my pivate racetrack ofcourse) and if i put it in tiptronic flip it to 5th gear and go back to 'D' it kicks back down to 4th again

How many Km's has the car done. I would recomend a trans flush and service, NOW. It is NOT normal, and ONLY use Mitsu Trans Fluid, its the cheapest anyway.

***UPDATE***
The ralliart is fixed:D :D i took it to the dealer & they had to pull the dash out and go through all the wiring. apparently there was a wire cut somewhere back there which was also stopping the brake lights from working  & they also had to replace the ECU. lucky its under warrenty hehe. but everything works now :D

Nice work. A new ECU out of warranty would of cost you an arm and a leg.

Sorry to break thread, but does the Ralliart Magna have the same ECU as the Standard or VR-X Magna? I remember reading somewhere that the Ralliarts had a additional ECU or a modified ECU. Just checking for when I supercharge it, hoping to not need the piggyback ECU.

Also while we are at it, does the Ralliart have the same sized injectors or one size up than the standard or VR-X Magna? For that matter does the 380 have the same injectors as the standard Magna or the Ralliart Magna? I am trying to find out what injectors I can source if I need some.

No. 380s use 12 hole injectors and a different ignition system developed by Bosch.

Sorry to show my ignorance, but what are 12 hole injectors? Compared to the Ralliart Injectors (8 hole? or something) Is the 12 Hole one size up from the fuel delivery of the Ralliart Injectors? I am trying to avoid the need for a 7th injector in my supercharger setup.

Same ECU as a standard Magna but with a modified tune. You will definately need at least a piggyback to utilize a supercharger.

The 380 is MMAL’s first locally built car to use this CAN system, which links all major electronic control modules. It is a system of multiplexing information between electronic controllers, dramatically accelerating communication and reducing the number of wires in the car.
The key to meeting the new stringent Euro 3 regulations, and giving smooth driveability, are the new 12-hole injectors. Allied with the returnless fuel system they deliver, through their multiple-hole orifice plate, a fine atomised spray pattern with much smaller droplet size of 60~70 microns; almost vaporising the fuel.
The aiming of the injectors has also been optimised for combustion efficiency.

All I can find for you. I very much doubt the technology is transferrable into a Magna but who knows, if you can find the a tech with the knowledge....

The 3.5 litre injectors are the same thru the whole 3.5 range from the TH to the TW
