View Full Version : Starter Motor, Where inside the TE?
Rattles like its firecracking when my car starts... Does anyone know where the starter motor is located? I may need to replace it, or possibly clean it up. Can I also use another magna model's starter motor? Like TJ's etc...
Thanks.

the starter motor is located at the front of the engine behind the front exhuast manifold. It is somehow integrated into the gearbox as well. Good luck
yeh its between the front headers and the engine there. pretty easy to change. took me and a mate bout 20 mins on a hoist to change it over

Do I have to hoist it? or I just get underneath the car to un-bolt it?
Thanks for your help boys.

Just jack up the car and put it on stands (or ramps)
If its like the TR V6, its 2 bolts, The slides out. Very easy to chance.

I hope its like the TR then!
Man i just took a look and found it, it looks like theres no place for me to put my Ratchet to get some of the bolts out. Oh am I also suppose to take off the battery in case I get a mad  ?

I did just incase.
For one of the bolts i could get to it underneath, For the other the handle for my ratchet was actually in the best position while facing the top of the car.
I think i used a 3/8"s set (it is 3/8? isn't it?) as 1/2" was too big
If theres a will theres a way:D
