honestly mooney, itd be much easier to work on an engine rather than drop a new one in it...i was looking at doing something similar a while back, with a 3000GT, lol the twin turbo one. The engine was $4000, everything would have to be changed and it would then need to get engineered....and good luck ensuring it, no matter what engine you drop into it.
Sorry 2 dash the hopes mate, but it will save you time, money and A LOT of hassels...

Cheers,
Adz

When your stuck with crappy SOHC 2 valve per cylinder engines its CHEAPER to drop a better engine in there.
Quick overveiw of doing some performance mods SOHC V6 in the 2nd gens.
Extractors - $900-$1100
Stage 1 cams - $1100
Ported and polished Heads - $2300 (Pair)

That would make sweet FA difference for the $4000 something.
On the other hand, Drop in a Stock 3000GT Motor and Bam, 40Kw more then stock already, Should cost Around $3000 For the conversion (give or take) And parts are readily available from the USA.

"Silver_bullet" From AMC has done the 3000GT TT Motor conversion and from what i remember last time he posted its cost in excess of $8K....

Yeah, i thought it was something like that...but even then you're still troubled with the fact its FWD....lol unless you mod it to RWD or 4WD. You've got a point tuff, might be cheaper to drop a new engine in if you are after some more "serious" performance...

FWD RWD whatever, properly set up A FWD will still perform damn good down the quarter.
With the basic DOHC Conversion (manual) KB Got a 14.8, Which im sure can be improved down to 14.5, And if i eventually never get over my car, with a supercharger running on low boost it should eaily get into the high 13's.

Im over the whole RWD thing....So to me ill stay FWD

Even if it is possible it means that because of the lower torque that your fuel economy would probably worsen and wouldnt feel THAT much different to a 2.6 astron. Youd would save a bucket and probably be happier with a 3.0 V6 conversion, or if your want a challenge (which it sounds like) you could try and find the super rare 3.5L for the 2nd gens. PS been drinkdn so may just be blabbin.
