I had been having a problem with my car not starting whenever it wasn't cold even if the temp gauge was nearly at the bottom. Sometimes it would start after waiting a few minutes or sometimes I had to wait up to an hour. This has gradually gotten worse over then last year or so.

It was real annoying when I went to fill up with petrol not know ing if it was going to start again .

Some times when it was cool it would start but splutter a lot before it would idle. Also the idle would constantly be shifting up to about 1400 then down to about 600 when it was at the lights or not moving.

Also the check engine light would come on every now and again. I had everything checked but the mechanic could not find the problem

At the second last service in February I had the O2 sensor changed, reconditioned injectors installed, the throttle body, fuel filter and pump all checked which made the car run a little better but the problem still occurred on a regular basic. Also the check engine light was coming on nearly every time it was driven.

At the last service the they replaced the replacing the coolant temp switch and it has resolved all the problems. :P

Just wanted to share the solution that worked for me :D

If the coolant temp sensor is faulty, the CEL would appear. I'm sure the code was stored in your ECU. As to why the mechanic couldn't work this out, who knows? Lack of knowledge perhaps?
At least you have had all the items you didn't need, changed, throttle body, injectors, filters etc.
