ummm.. In terms with the 3rd gen magna.

yeah.. engine.. the Diamante has the GDI engine which is a 2.5L v6 i think? Whereas we have the 2.4L 4cyl or the 3/3.5L V6.

Front and rear bumpers on the Diamante are the same as our Verada's.

I think the brakes are the same as the AWD/Ralliart brakes on our Magna's.

They also have an array of interior options that we don't.. e.g. extra lighting, Front arm rests and so on.

I am led to believe the Diamante has 4WS? or is that false.. not to sure.

also in NZ we have the AU Magna as Diamante which was sold new through Mitsubishi dealers and the JDM Diamante are used imports, so it can get confusing. the Magna name was used here, but only for 4 cylinder versions, the TR shape Magna v6 was just called 'mitsubishi V3000' and this was replaced by Diamante with the TE(?) in 1996. the Magna name was dropped with the 4 cylinder option in the late 90's.

the JDM Diamante has smaller bumpers like the Magna, but Verada head and taillights. the interior design is pretty much the same, but with much better materials. virtually everything is soft touch plastic, from the glovebox lid to the centre console. i could count on hand hand the number of hard plastic bits, whereas the Magna has more hard plastics i believe.
the suspension and drivetrain is considerably different. the AU vs JDM cars are much more different than their looks would suggest

There is very little difference with the 2nd or 3rd gen New Zealand Magna/Sigma/Diamante/V3000 (whatever you want to call it) with what we got here in Australia. This is basically because they got what Australia expored to them, rebadged.

Our 3rd gen Magna/Verada was exported to many different countries as a Diamante. With the exception of Japan (cos they always do their own things) there is barely any difference from country to country (except for compliance differences) Check out this Diamante from Canada ....

The 1st gen Diamante in Japan, Europe and USA (we call the same shape a 2nd gen) was a very different vehicle to what we got here in Australia. It was full of heaps of electronic gismos, had All Wheel Drive and the windows had no sashes! I wouldn't mind comparing the specs myself if anyone can actually find them.

Anyone seen this Wikipedia summary?
