my battery died about 6 months ago, so i went and replaced it, i didnt know how old it was cuz it came with the car, but now my new battury has died on me, i can only listen to my system on med volume for 5 mins before my car wont even attempt to start. will i need a capacitor to stop this from wrecking another new battery?

Capacitors do very little to preserve a battery... And are a waste of money imo (audio bling)

Your batteries are dying as you are running them flat too many times. They aren't designed to be run flat at all, and as soon as you do this it will shorten their life.
Few options:
Buy a decent dry cell battery that is designed to be run flat. Eg Optima Yellowtop. Orbital etc
Buy a battery charger and use it before you want to listen to ur tunes without the engine on so your battery will never run flat.
Listen to your music when you have your engine running (plays off the altenator)

thanks, do you mean plug a battery charger in when the system is running? wont this just simply just overload it? how much should i expect to pay for a run flat battery?

no you charge up the battery before you listen to your tunes without the car running
after battery is charged take off the charger then listen to tunes

oh i thought the alternator would have fully charged it by the time i turn the engine off and ready to play the tunes, considering that i drove a considerable trip

If you have run your battery flat already (or near flat) then it will not be able to hold its charge anymore. ie even though ur altenator is putting current into it, the battery has lost its capacity.

Optima Yellow top D34... look around for prices.

since audio bling was mentioned, i was wondering if there is any benifits of a secondary battery powering the sound system, besides the obvious of not draining the main battery

It would need an alternator to hook up to it you realise? Otherwise it'll have the same problem... Too much effort to have a dual battery setup, just buy quality in the first place :)

just get a duel battery manager, it diverts alternator charge to the battery that needs it most, its what 4X4's use when they install duel batterys
