you will find that thats where most people tend to put it
unless you have fog lights then its gotta go somewhere else

hey mate i got a custom CAI put on my 4G64,and as long as you dont have fog lights you should get beter cold air and to be ohnest with you its beter than stock cause your getting more air from below the car instead of from the front.Ive seen magnas on amc with the stock front bumper they have replace those orginal grills in the bumper to mesh, also if you did want to go ahead with the idea,i highly recomend getting a pod filter cover so that if you ever went through a puddle it would help stop water from getting sucked in.
also theres an option of buying a CAI for your motor off RPW,pm for any more help:)

some of my mates call them filter frangers lol
basically they are designed with waterproof like material so wen water gets splashed on the filter it stops some of it fron getting sucked in,best used for offroad cars that have huge fully sick pod filters.
um kn suply them, most auto shop should have them, hmm if they designed them for panel filters you would get no air in at all!if you have a k and n panel filter i would just get it cleaned every 5 thousand kms,or get the place that services your car to do it for you:)
hope ive helped:D
oh 1 more thing driving through a 1 foot puddle of water will certainly still suck up water,if you have a CAI and a lowered magna dodging puddles is the only way to get around:cool:

you dont really need a pod filter cover.
as long as you dont drive throu puddles you will be fine lol
to be honest the factory intake is good as it is already. like others say mitsubishi didnt spent millions of dollers just to make it look pretty lol
i did mine just for theinduction noise. got a 3" pip from the maff running down and then a 90 degree bend with a K&N pod and omg you get fully sick induction noise uleh lol
if you get a decent pod thats been sprayed with oil you will be fine with splashes of water.

Word. It's an everyday thing now isn't it?
Cthulu's website says that you can get up to 6kw from doing cai on a magna.
OH and mitsu didn't design the panel snorkel for hp.

I hooked an 80mm pipe from the standard air box (with K&N Panel Filter) to underneith the car. I didnt notice any induction noise... would this be because it is being drowned out by my exhaust? I don't have an extremely loud exhaust... Also It was really difficult for me to find somewhere for the piping to get under the car. Seems to be too crowded to put it where everyone else puts their's... like directly infront of the air box. I had to wind it round the left, behind the radiator and have it coming out on the left hand side of the front bumper.

Uhh, every pod that is used oiled should come oiled from the factory. Some like the stainless weave are meant to be the alternative and are legal to have unboxed in your engine bay, because an oiled filter is not allowed to be in your engine bay unless it's fully enclosed.
Unifilters i am not sure on, if they are oiled or not that is..
But yeah basically, you buy the brand (of course the plug for K&N) then you buy their "filter-charger" kit which has both the oil dispersant (to clean the dirty oil and crap out of the filter) and the new oil. I got mine for about $20 or so, which aint bad when they recommend you re-oil every 6 months to 30,000 depending on conditions...

You wont get the induction noise from a panel, its the open air pod that gives the noise because its just hangin' out there not enclosed like a panel and you can hear it sucking like a vacuum cleaner or cranky snake, it's good fun.

no you cant lol
digger forget the cold air intake if you are looking for power, if its the noise you want yeh go 4 it by all means, i just dont think that CAI's give any gains imo

you wont get much of an induction noise with a panel filter....ashneel is using a POD....im guessing one of those oval ones
...also can i jsut get rid of my airbox...and just connect pipe straight out to the MAF..? any ideass if this will void my warranty:P?

thats what i was gonna do run some nice piping down that way and finish her off with a nice Pod filter, i wont need the other filter box ay?

Negative. Take it out of your running new piping down to the front bar. Make sure you bend up a bracket so you can secure the pod/piping to something else it'll just fall off going over a bump.
CAI has been proven, time and time again, also a big part of the CAI for magnas is removing the restriction. Hot air rises and a pipe at the bottom of your car vs the pickup behind the headlight means you might get a degree of colder air which equals a power gain of 400,000kW. Duh. (No really, it does!). I believe in it, and so do a lot of manufacturers who spend money on it as upgrades on 'sports' models.

So far 23'568 questions. I think the Universal limit is 50'000 - after that the AMC Website automatically crashes. Poor Blake then has to work hard on it again.
This quote about air flowing upwards being a restriction - interesting. Cos air actually does weight. A cubic meter of air at sea level on 20 deg temp weighs one kg. Hmmmmm..... very interesting. (I think I just started another debate heheheheheheh).
