I was driving along while it was pissing down the other day and the drivers side windscreen wiper stop wiping. I stopped the car and took it off and i noticed the little shaft that it goes onto has actually rounded itself off so it cant grab at the arm to move it.
Is it easy to replace ?

you undo the black metal cover along the lower part of the screen (screws)
TOOLS
a spanner thingy for the first thingy then a screwdriver thingymagig for the second whatzit
you will need a second hand wiper arm part from the wrecker
grab the wiper arm as well both splines must be stripped
just all screws to the wiper motor system both wiper arms have to be taken off

Awesome description :D
I don't think I could describe it better myself hehe
Seriously - wiper arms are a total pain to get undone. I can only get the bolt off one of the arms, but the arm is rusted in place there so mine aint going nowhere lol. Other one the bolt is ceased on so I can't get it undone either :P
My one makes this clunk every time the wipers move so I was going to try and oil it, but no luck there... nowhere as annoying as the paint-mixer shaking at idle that I still need to fix though lol

I attempted it and there is no way im going to get it out unless i take the motor off too so i just tightened the nut as much as i could and it seems to be working again.
I cannot BELIEVE the amount of rust under the plastic bits there is a big ass hole!!
If i could i would get it all welded up because thats just nasty

may as well weld the wiper arm on so it wont give you trouble
I think its steel
Oh crap i forgot to change the profile its actually a TN Elante but still :(
I dont expect it to last long so if it stuffs up again ill post a pic of the rust and might as well buy another mechanism + arm. Done a search and it seems like a common thing on these cars (the rust that is).
EDIT: lol who did you reply too ? Just noticed Dave has a TP elante :D

hahahaha i WISH i had an elante... mine is just a typical executive - with all the peeling clear coat and rust patches around the chrome to match ;)
I'm not sure exactly where you would find an entire new wiper arm, but I'm sure they're around somewhere. Don't cover up that huge hole below the wipers, coz if you look carefully, the air vents inside the car (including the blower motor) get the air from there! I think it could do with some creative thinking though when it comes to cutting down on the wind noise that goes through the vent... that is surprisingly the loudest noise on my car - especially on freeways! :bowrofl:

Oh ok because it sais in your profile you have an Elante.
As for the holes under the vents, nah im talking about a whole new hole that has been made due to rust lol

buy a small triangular file
make new grooves on both parts of tthe taper
and that should hold the wiper

Really? Hmmmm I'll have to check that... something stuffed up there lol.
I love rust. Rust is my friend - well it has to be when u have a magna anyway coz it just doesn't stop! lol
Best way to deal with that is to get a wire brush and brush off all the loose rust filings then file/sand away the loose bits. Then make the rust wet, before putting some rust inhibitor over it. Once that has been left there for a few days you could fill the hole with fibreglass or just body filler (depends on how big the hole is). Then paint over it with some primer/undercoat, then go over the top with it with some new paint. All fixed hehe.

so no one is the wiser:bowrofl:
