Hey guys, just wondering, if youve got a minute can ya suggest a nice setup for a tj vrx coz ive got a few quotes and none are satisfying me.
i want nice bass, pref a twin sub, not just for bass but also for chunky looks, amps that can run the system, nothing more, nothing less, 6x9s and 6s and a head unit (pref with iPod input.
Been looking at that fusion setup that someone else had, looks pretty sweet, worth lookin into????
Thanks Guys

If you want something to look mean and go hard.... Get the U.S Audio Berzerk dual 12" subs in a box and ditch the subs. That will cost you $150 i think max... you might get $50 back for the subs. Then buy two middle price range Pioneer/JBL/MTX subs, the MTX will be more pricey. But look at about $200 a sub.

If you want to mix n match your audio to get the better system for your dollars, invest in a Response MonoBlock from Jaycar to run the subs. That will set you back i think $350-$400 for the 800WattRMS amp and ~$700 for the 1500WattRMS.

Then you will want your mid and high range.... Best bang for buck is your response gear again.
Get the ~$260 4 channel amp. That is 4*100watt RMS i think.

Then you want speakers that will match your subs...

For your rear fill, find a set of branded 6*9s that are 3-way and have a minimum of 200wattRMS. I have a set of Kenwoods that cost $100 and they are 350watt i think.

Spend a little more on your fronts. I suggest Splits but you will be looking at a bigger price...

I have found Alpine Type R 6.5" 2 ways to be really good. They are about ~$250 i think.

For cheaper speakers go the Kevlar Response Jaycar speakers. I think they are about $150. not sure on that price, look it up.

So all up that setup is ~$1700. Depending on what monoblock you choose.

But all is up to you and whether you can install it all yourself... then add ~$100 for Wiring and components.

Shop around and find what you want. But steer clear from the usual dodge brands.

Strathfield, Autobarn. Whatever place is stocking them at the time you look. I only suggest that brand because the sub box it comes with looks mean as.

I'm trying to find a photo

Go for 1gage from battery to a distribution block of your choice... i found it hard to find wat i wanted so i had to improvise. Then from the distribution block, go 2gage to the monoblock and 4gage to the 4 channel. And your earths should be same as the the inputs.

You need shielded RCAs, 3 sets( i hate using splitters ) and plenty of speaker wire.

You will need an 80amp fuse minimum in your engine bay no more than a meter from the battery.

One thing you will learn is Quality is better than Quantity.

I dont know how easy it would be to get those subs out or to put new ones in that... sorry.

Looks like its ported, u need to be careful with ported boxes, the box needs to have the right volume and have the right size port tune specific for your sub.

Yeah, im askin the seller that question.
I know quality is better, hence i dont want the subs that theyr providing, but surely the box has to be decent, looks pretty phat lol.
Bright lights keep me amused!

im lookin at a few of the ebay ones, and it seems a much better option than spending 80-100 on a plain box, when for about 100-150 i can have a joy perspex'y, LED'y one.
am i wrong in this assumption??

have to recommend against the bezerk idea. spend $250 getting a custom ported box made (unless you can DIY). This will be a lot more ideal for whatever subs you end you going.

althought i would REALLY recommend spending more on 1 sub rather than 2, if you MUST go 2, then the lowest i would go is a pair of Treo TSi subs for about $250 each.

$750 so far. add $300 for mono, $1050.
5m 45mm core welders flux cable from any electrical supplier $48
jaycar distro block + 3x jaycar rca's + 2 meters of 4ga cable + few ring terminals $62 - $1160 total

using your own sux b nines and 6's still $1160

response 4x50 for the speakers (you dont need more power than this) $180. total at $1340

head unit: second hand Alpine 9851 or similar $250

TOTAL $1590

or if you were willing to go a single, better sub, you would save $50 on the box, and could go something like an Oz Audio Matrix Elite for $509 pp. one awesome sub i might add.

thats a saving of $40, and itll go louder, and sound better.

oh, and add 10m of 18ga speaker wire to the equation, for about $12

orr.. if your not too fussy about the quality of sub bass, and 'average' sounding will do you, go a pair of Pioneer 306C's for $100 each, they will be louder too

Furthermore, the search function doesnt seem to turn anything up for me, does anyone know where i can find a sound system install guide showing all of the stuff i need to know as for my last one i had it done professionally.
Thanks

please do notice that these are only 8" subs, try not to bid on something when you havent read it properly yet, otherwise you might find yourself in a pickle with a box for 3 8" subs which isnt very useful. id go custom anyway

BishiBenj

yeah i found that out later, didnt bid on it, only throwing the idea in the air.
definately goin custom

kewl, if hes as good as you say, and you can get me a decent deal on this stuff, ill head down there. Just wanna make sure i dont get a botch job, cos the guys at audiocom did a fairly dodgy job on my pulsar, good equipment, just dodgy job.
