that's got to be an awfully small pod to fit into the stock air intake huh?

Doesn't this defeat the purpose of the pod? Restricting its breathing being inside the stock air box?

Thanks... it's been a work in progress over the past 3 years or so... and I've finally joined the forum. The LSD is actually being fitted right now, don't get the car back until Tuesday afternoon.

Yes... well a copy of the RalliArt wing. Originally meant to fit a Lancer.

I can not see the reason to use it over a panel filter. The panel will have a larger surface area thus let more air through.
This pod has a very limited surface area.

Wouldnt this round pod cause the air to swirl and stuff up the MAS Sensor??
The cops wouldnt care if it was there anyway cause it is enclosed and therefore not defectable

Honestly the idea is good but the size filter for your car has all of the worst characteristics of a setup. You are now actually restricting air flow as the head of the pod blocks off the incoming air, the actualy physical amount of filter material to pull air in is now less than the origonal panel filter and lastly, you have a very cone shaped pod filter which will really mess things up.
Probably the only reason you are not having a problem is it is so small that it cannot let enough air in to do any damage.
Not trying to put you down and the idea is fantastic. But you really need to change that back to either a normal rampod or flat panel filter before you do any damage to the car.

Can't you just run pipes to the air-box to send more air in there so it isn't as restrictive? Or am I thinking along the wrong lines here?

Probably is me then. I live only 10-15 minutes from Caringbah, and have been cruising around there a bit lately. I also have work there sometimes.

When RPW does the pod filters we use the same system as the photo above - placing our oval shaped K&N Rampod filters in the same position and utilise teh front half of the air box as both a heat shield and partial cold air feed.

i got the pod from wolfies auto one, the dude went threw his books and said that was the right one for my type of magna, it cost me $120 and $40 for the bracket
i need to run CAI to it but i havent got around to it, i havent had any problems with it and ive had it for awhile
i noticed abit of difference with the pod, with my exhaust it used to seem like it ran out of puff around the 4000 rev's mark but know it pulls all the way and makes the car sound better
i also had to make a little extension bit so that the pod sits in the middle of the box cause it doesnt fit straight into the box

I have had mine done the same way as Surfy Dude for some time now with the k&n oval pod.All ok, as long as they don't look at it from behind.
