so I just saw on Mitsubishi's website, the little pop up about how the 380 engine is LPG ready and already had the necessary seals and whatnot in there.

Anyone have there 380 on LPG or heard anything about it ?

The popup claims there is no decrease in power and you may actually notice an increase due to 'due to increased torque in the lower rev range.'

Any thoughts ?

Update from talking to Mitsubishi:

They do the conversion on site.

It makes no difference price wise whether you do it upfront or later on.

Costs $3500 to $4000 depending on the car (he couldn't remember 380 specific pricing...)

The bit I liked least:
The LPG conversion only has 12 month warranty, and if it causes problems to your engine its not covered under the 5/10 warranty, even if its Mitsubishi themselves who do the conversion !!!

and I can imagine the boot space goes to 'couple of cartons of milk only' dimentions as the stock 380 boot is already too small for such a large car.

I've seen plenty of LPG 30's drving around in Adelaide, both private and Government.

The system is multi point vapour injection, now required under pollution laws (same on Alloytech Common*****s, not sure how Ford gets away with the old system on the Falcons), hence the increased cost.

Yeh there is a crapload of 380's driving around Adelaide. I swear that there must be twice as many 380's around compared to other states (well compared to Victoria anyway). The other day I saw my first 380 vs. 380VR-X drag from the lights. The VR-X won, but I'm guessing the VR-X was manual because it had some distance on the standard 380, oh and the standard 380 was lpg... so yeah it relates to this thread.

Isn't Ford's lpg thing gas with no petrol tank, as in the gas tank is where the petrol tank would normally be?? Which was available on base model 3rd Gen (Well I know it was on TJ - TL) Magna's?

Thats interesting...I've seen basically no 380s in Victoria. Its amazing how few of them are on the road !

Non intrusive gas struts help in this regard. At least all of the boot space is useable.

Depending on which performance test you read, the 5spd auto is on par if not slightly quicker than the manual version. I would say most of the difference you saw may have been LPG related.

I'd say all tests of the 380 show the manual quicker than auto. I read all roadtests of the 380, from Wheels to Go Auto and so on. Going on 0-100km/h times, the slowest manual time to date is 7.5secs; the fastest auto is 7.8secs.
