My front right disc brake started to shriek a few months ago, so i bought some new pads, sprayed them with some squeal free spray on goo stuff and they were fine for a few days and now the squeak is back again on the same wheel!! its driving me nuts, does anyone know what it could be? could it be the disc?? any advice appreciated

i'd say change your rotors mate.
Get them checked, if they can be machined do it. Otherwise you're looking at replacement rotors (Not too expensive for standard).

Any grooves cut into the rotors?

HEHEHE

Umm - i meant small grooves cut in by the pads - not 'slotted rotors'.

Can you post up pics of the rotors?

mine squecked heaps, then i got mine machined but then it stopped, and the brakes where much better, so this may be your problem.

My brakes squeak heaps when braking, and when traveling under 10km/h. Service didn't fix the problem either.

lol nah they're smooth, can you cut slots in them yourself or do u need to see a pro?

Gonna have another crack at it today and see if i can finally get rid of it.

_MetalliX_ - mines the same only below 10kph

I don't think you quite understand,

Your brake pads contact with the rotors to slow them down. That's how your braking system works. Over time, it creates wear on the rotors, showing up as grooves. This is usually the cause of the squeaking while braking. You need to have them machined by a mechanic, to make them smooth again (Bye squeaky noise). They also have a minimum width specification, if they are unable to be machined because it would make them too small, then you need to buy replacement rotors (Not that expensive).

I got new Front Rotors from Repco (Silverline) for $49.00 ea, or $25 ea to get them machined.... I'd rather buy new ones.
