Picked it up Saturday morning.
Black (same as the one in the PDF on Mitsubishi's website) with the extra darkened tint and towbar package.
Love it, can't recommend it enough.
Never thought I'd ever purchase a new car, but the price brand new is absurd considering what you get. I almost feel like I'm expecting a bill in the mail for the rest of the cost :D
"Oh I'm sorry, that was the upfront portion, did you think that was the price for the whole car!!?" :D
And using the selectronic (or whatever its called...) manual feature, the car accelerates FAST if you want it to !!
cheers

black is such a shexy color for the 380, but its a b$#@$% to keep clean. im a low maintenace guy and with water restrictions storm was my choice.
yeah but for the price and specs nothing really comes close.

pffft. water restrictions :D I wouldn't complain though, storm is a bloody hot colour and was originally only available on the LX and the GT, so it was originally some-what special.
Black and storm would be my pick out of the bunch for sure. Although I have seen a very very nice 380 VR-X done up driving around Adelaide with 19's or maybe 20's on it in Adrenaline which looks fantastic.

thanks guys.
I'll try to put some pics up in the next few days for those that are interested.
I actually originally ordered the Storm colour as a dark gun metal grey is my favourite colour. But the fact the Storm colour is 'pearlescent' (sp?) and changes colour in various lights, made me panick and I changed my order to black....which also ruled :D :D
But black is cool, so its all good

Interesting note:
When the rep was showing me the selectronic automatic, I asked why they even offered a standard manual.
His reply:
Funny you should say that, got a call from head office today and we are no longer doing 380s in manual. They've told us not to put in an order for any !

My parents bought an electric blue 380 Platinum 2 months ago and they are very nice cars. The only problem is they are a B1tch to reverse! You have sooo many blind spots when your reversing its not funny. Its a good thing the Platinum came with reverse sensors! Other than that they are fantastic cars. The silver grille parts on the front looks awesome too!

Yeah, they sacrificed a little visibility from the last Magna in order to look cooler....which is a fair swap I think :D
Oh yeah forgot...the rep encouraged me to take the car to the local Pedders to get it lowered ! ...that surprised me that an official Mitsu rep would do that !
(apparently the local Pedders is quite good, and does all the Mitsubishi cars for this dealership)

Not that I can drive a manual... but are you serious? That is a big suprise, considering some people who want a manual can't get a manual Aurion, and, if they don't want to spend much can't get a manual Commodore either, in that respect, I thought the base model in manual at $27,990 would have sold well for those wanting a manual.
Surely the TMR will have a manual transmission as well though, and that is based on S3, and if the above is correct perhaps no manual will be offered.

My Magna had 16 inch wheels, and the 17s on the 380 look massive to me !
19 would look more like a monster truck to me :D

Pedders came out with a special lowering "kit" for the 380's very soon after they first came out. My dealership in Canberra also took my car to the local Pedders guys to have it done before I picked it up, they were also nice enough to throw in some wheels for me :P
Oh, and they are 20's the ones you see in my avatar. They dont look like monster truck rims I dont think.
Enjoy your car mate, good purchase.

Yeah that's just no manual for the platinum edition. The decision was made not too long after the platinum was launched to make it auto only. Manual 380's on a whole just ain't selling.

the lack of manuals in anything is really off putting to me. was considering an aurion until they said no manuals. i reckon eventually you will only be able to get manuals in the sports models of all cars(ie:VRX).shame.

Congratulations on the purchase. I'm sure you'll it! I am very jealous of you Platinum owners; its a very nice car. And in black, with that mesh grille, the Platinum looks awesome!
Yes that Stealth is a bitch to keep clean; when clean they have a great shine, but any bit road mud from rain, etc, and it shows instantly.
Post some pics by all means, and/or put one on your profile screen.
I'm curious about the lowering... how many inches are you considering? Lowered with big rims, the 380 would look very nice. I'm planning that myself.

Thanks guys.
Am loving the car.
Will try to put photos on during the weekend !
As for lowering....still not sure....
Its a combination of:
a) How different will the car really look ?
b) How different will it handle ?
c) How many driveways, speedhumps, etc... am I going to scrape ?
As for how low to go ? ...I don't know! Is 1cm even worth doing if it costs $500 ?
Is 2cm so low I will be hitting things ?

a) Your car will looks heaps better! I haven't touched my 380 yet, but lowered my 3rd gen Magna before, and it looked far better lowered. Can't explain it, but cars look much better (almost aggressive) once lowered.
b) It will handle better too, and feel a lot tighter on the road (though will alter tyre & shock lifespan). 380 now feels very lightly and floaty to me; I'd much rather lower and tight.
c) I lowered my Magna 2inches, which I thought was massive! But when I picked it up, it still had "arch gap"... another 1 inch would have fixed it, but I was told any lower and I'd need shorter shocks too. But anyway, 2inch drop I didn't scrape on anything... but my front tow hook thing would occasionally scrape on curved-guttered driveways, and download [I mean downward] carpark-type ramps.
Magnas sit too high; my VS Berlina is also lowered 2inches and scrapes frequently along the exhaust when going over humps, etc.
I'm certain that a 2cm (almost 1inch) drop won't scrape anything, except the most extreme of ramps, bumps, angles, etc. I'm facing the same uncertainty too, but would not lower less than 2inches (although the standard sitting 380 appears to sit lower than a Magna, or at least have slightly less "arch gap").
Hope this rambling helps. Good luck with the drop.

You said you've got the 17s now, the VRX rims. Did you already mention plans to change the rims? Or you're happy to keep the 17s but lower the car?

Yeah I'm happy with the 17s (not sure if they are VRX, they are the ones that come standard with the Platinum which I think are different)
Why ? Will that cause problems with lowering ?

No, no problems at all (definately not for 2cm). I'm pretty certain the Platinum 17s are VRX rims, in which case they're definately nice enough to keep. I think the 380 has only 2 17inch rims: VRX & GT - and 1 16s (the LX rims which I have).

Mine is lowered close to 1.5 inches. No issues with scraping speed humps ever. I have a steep incline with my driveway coming up it, no issues ever.
I would personaly go the 1.5 inches. Its a bit like buying a widescreen TV......you get it home and within a couple of weeks you wish you would have gone the next size bigger lol
Either way, 380's all need some degree of lowering, even with nice aftermarket wheels its only then that they start looking like sex.

lol you have some pretty small wheels though dude...
even on the 17's plus thicker tyre should be right though... i'd dump it 2.5" though.

The 380 is low at the front already.
I scraped coming out of a not so steep driveway yesterday, and I was purposely being careful. I don't know how I would have got out if the car was 2 inches lower...

Better stick to 1-2 inches then, especially if you are scraping already. More than 2inches and I reckon you'd be scraping everything: speed humps, car parks ramps, driveways, etc - and driving the car would be a pain in the ****. You don't want to compromise the handling of a brand new car like that. Stick with whatever range you can get away with.
EDIT: Wow, I didn't know this software 'bleeps' out rude words. Cool!

It sounds pretty odd that thered be no manual platinums. The plant is running at such a slow rate they are basically on build to order anyway.

That'd be for either one of the very first Platinum's that's already on stock, or a built-to-order quote. My guess would be the former.
