I was working on my bro's ks rada (95) today and after taking out all the injectors and having them overhauled and putting them back in the car now runs a bit better (was stalling due to lack of fuel on start) except when....
It randomly sends a spark from the distributor cap to the inlet manifold... followed by misfire...
I removed the dizzy cap rather than the inlet monifold to get the injectors out. The rotor was locked in place i can't have moved it. Which was different to the rotor on my old sohc.
So could anyone explain such an occurance.

im gonna have to go with......magic.....as we all kno there are tiny little magicians in our engine that cast fire spells and make the stuff happen and crap. i think that 1 of your maigicans has forgotten to tie up his traners and tripped on his shoe lace and accidentaly casted a lightning spell and it made a bang noise and that loud bang scared the other magicians into casting a lock rotor spell on ure engine
simple as that:D

If the car operates normally when not sending it's random spark then timing is not an issue.
(a) Your dizzy cap may have a fine layer of grime on it and just needs a clean or
(b) You may need to ensure the lead near the start of the tracking spark is seated properly in the distributor and on it's spark plug - to track as you describe means that it is easier for the spark to jump from dizzy to manifold than across the spark plug gap.
If it sparks too often then you may get a carbon track down the side of the dizzy and you'll have to replace the cap.
If all else fails, try replacing the spark plug lead - it may have a crack inside it.

lol haha
the spark will allways find the shortest way to ground i would check the cap for cracks and check that all the leads and plugs are in good nick and pushed on

yeah the connections on them are pretty fine but yeah there was a bit of corrosion it's kinda out of my hands now, i just hope the mechanic back home can sort it out...
I kinda left the cap in the rain a bit yesterday to, it should've dried out fine though... i haven't seen rain for a while lol

There's your magic voodoo right there. Like how they got so little power out of the astron 2, and it's my job to disspell all that magic.
