ok i have searched for what i want to kno but to no avail
would an un-boxed pod work to its full potential when running a length of flex pipe to it as you would to a stock airbox with a a.m panel filter
like so...
(excuse the woeful picture)

My guess would be that it would restrict the airflow around the edges of the pod, as you see in the pic where the flex pipe is touching the pod.
would an un-boxed pod work to its full potential
Considering the 'full potential' is ~3kw atw, who cares?

I reckon it would not work as well as some other setups, plus probably be illegal. Drop in a k&n panel and grab barrys fuel rail kit or modify the airbox with some piping to the front bumper if you really want.

That's a bit OTT.. 3kw atf maybe..
Running the pipe like that would just be like a podbox, but yes, using common sense, if you put a pipe over the pod it would restrict the flow because the nose is solid and it draws from the sides you silly silly person..

it wouldnt really matter if the nose is solid because the air dont have n e where else to go apart from into the sides u silly silly person:rant: lol

The problem is the air has to change direction, slowing it down.

Depends on the pod, some pods have the nose truncated and inversed... know what i mean?
i would say you want more room around the pod.
and to the people that say its only 3kws or what ever, why post if you dont care, when you post only shows you do care as it takes time to do so. if you dont care dont post.

doesnt look too bad, u might wanna make the piping around the pod a lil more roomy tho, just to let it breathe that lil bit better. i did the same thing only with a panel filter.
even if its only 3kw, its better than 0kw lol

why not have a pipe running to the bottom of the car with a pod attached to it so its sitting behind the front bar. you get air from the gap in the bar and air passing through under the car. that way you get induction noise and nice cool air to your pod at the same time. down side is you would be ****ed if you drove through a puddle and pod would get twice as dirty but if you buy your self a re usuable pod all is well then.
alot of members including my self have done this and all i can say is induction noise if ****ing sick and its way way way louder

nope leave the maf in its original place. run the pipe just after the maf down to the front bar and just wack the pod on

Can I ask
1. what size pipe is that
2. if it is 100mm HTF did you get it down beside the battery
where can I get the pipe from.
I just installed something similar but behind the grill in my AWD TL like greenmat http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=16688
I don't know how he fitted 100mm pipe in there, I originally bought some 100mm stuff from clark rubber but it is not flexible enough and sits too high for the bonnet to close
I had to temporarily revert back to some 80mm stuff I got from peps auto parts. for the moment it's better than nothing.
I am looking for some flexible 90mm stuff, then I can get rid off that white plumbers reducer.
Yes I Know it needs a wash!!!!
