Hi. I was a passed member (about two years ago) unfortunatly I couldn't remember the password and it was still registered to the old email address lol. Anyway on with the show

92 Verada V6 Auto.
I am having a problem with the radiator fan not coming on when the car gets hot.
The fan will work with the Air Con so for now I have removed the Air Con clutch relay and just have the fans running
I have replaced the thermo sensor in the bottom of the radiator. I have checked that the fan works and swapped the fuses and relays around. Everything works, except the fan
I did notice that the wires in the relay box under the bonnet had become very hot at some stage. The wires were corroded and burnt. The previous owner had shifted the fan relay as the housing it was originally in had melted.
So Today I replaced the relay box and spliced in good connectors and wires from parts found at the wreckers.
The only thing I can’t find is where to connect the black wire from the thermostat on the bottom of the radiator. At the moment it is connected to another earth wire.
After all this the fan still won't work by itself. I have run out of ideas and would appreciate any help.

Thanks
Jason

i have had this a lot, and every time it was because the relay overheated, so switching them around fixed it. failing this u can direct wire them by putting a split pin across diagonally i think on the relay connectors in the fuse box. this does generate a lot of heat but has got me home quite a few times.

Tried several different relays. Checked horn and/or lights still worked with them, all ok. Still no fan

check the sensor in the botom of the radiator, try bridge out the pins and see if fans turn on(ign must be on) all i could really think of for ya

...i had a similar problem, ended up been an air bubble in the coolant, had to bleed the bastard and refill it again....might be helpful...

I seem to have it fixed...I think
I chopped the wiring harness out of another car at the wreckers and swapped over the good connectors and replaced all those that looked a little suss. All relays are now in the correct positions. The fan will come on briefly when the engine has been running for a while but not as long as I would have expected. Temp gauge only ever goes up to half which is begging to bother me (Don't these things ever overheat) I guess the fan not running could be because it has been quite cold when I have tried it. Either that or it could be the sensor is not correct.

yep boiled the guts out of mine once and the highest the gauge ever went was halfway. Yet mitsubishi assured me after checking the gauge it was reading right and the boilover came from pressure loss only.
