Hey Guys,
Firstly I wanna thank all you guys here, I've been posting a bit and you've all been great help in choosing my car (a black TL 03 VR-X arriving in about a month or two), and after bugging you about my sound system, Ive come to an intense conclusion. I've always wanted to have a black car with a black/green theme, inspired by my fav music video of all time (One Step Closer - Linkin Park) and i have decided this VR-X is gna be that car.
Therefore green neons, Green and black seats and mats, and mostly, making this thread relevant to the section.... FUSION AUDIO!!!
Haha i know most of you probably scoff at the mention, but after hearing a system sporting powerplants, I am rather impressed, plus they look awesome, PLUS they would fit in sooo nicely with my setup. Now heres what ive come up with:
High End Setup: 2x12" NV Series Subs
NV Series 2000W Monoblock
NV Components front and back
NV 4 channel amp.

Whereas the Powerplant equivalents (or near enough).

The NV Setup Will cost around 3500 for parts, installation and custom box
The PowerPlant Setup will probably cost around 2500 for the above.
Just wondering If it's worth getting the NV, bearing in mind, im not entering any competitions for the best Sound Quality, mainly just a bit of boom and looks.

*EDIT: Or maybe a compromise, such as all NV Gear except amps or something, i want good speakers with amps that will run them, not exceed them.

Thanks guys, also any recommendations on random green **** and neons are welcome!
:)

Hmmm why don't you get Morel or Dynaudio splits for the front ( they will probably be hidden anyway) and they are black. Use the green amps and green subs.

I remember seeing an article in a car magazine from ages about painting the woofers/cones of speakers, ill see if i can dig them up for ya when i go back home next.

Id say go for what is gonna give ya the best bang for buck. Give ya self a budget and work to that religously! Buy second hand if you can aswell. Things can be painted or covered up, i.e you can keep your amps in a painted amp box/tray,

Thanks man, that would be great! yeah i'd love to get a decent system for under 1500 which i think i can do, especially if i can paint over my pioneer 6"s and 6x9s, and use my current head unit (pioneer mp3/wma, its pretty good)

Talk to Dave (halucin8) or Phil, i can highly recommend these fellas.

To be honest i wouldnt even go as far as painting the speakers at all unless you are gonna take the stock grills off your door pods and parcel shelf, coz you can hardly see the speakers through them. Its still your decision and its not gonna cost an arm and a leg to do and wont take a month of sundays either. Ill have a look on Sunday when i go home (house sitting in Vic Park atm and i live in the hills).

My aim is a budget build, under $1000 for everything, speakers, subs, amps, wires etc. Will be doing the install myself. Im not planning to enter any kind of SQ or SPL comp so im putting in what i think is the best sounding speaker for my budget.

P.S i may be coming to see you tomorrow to buy some knives!

Yeah I did that with my Boston G5 when I had my Magna. Added 2 LED's above the woofer and it all lit up very nice. The Veedub now has red LED's cause the car is black and I have red plates :-)
