Removal


1. Remove timing belt covers.
2. Rotate engine clockwise until the timing marks are aligned as per the diagram.


When changing the timing belt, do not allow the engine to turn anti clockwise.

3. Loosen the tensioner locking bolt and lever the tensioner away from the belt.
4. Tighten the locking bolt temporarily.


Installation

1. Timing marks must be aligned.
2. Fit the timing belt in this order:
Crankshaft
Camshaft 2
Water pump
Camshaft 1
Belt Tensioner
3. Loosen the tensioner locking bolt.
4. Rotate the engine clockwise two turns and check aligning marks.


When turning the engine, do not allow the engine to turn anti clockwise.

5. Tighten tensioner locking bolt.


Tightening Torques

Camshaft Gear bolts
90Nm

Crankshaft bolt
180-190Nm

Front Cover bolts
10-12Nm

Tensioner Bolt
26Nm


R&R Time

2.5 hours (add 0.5hrs for air con and power steering) .
