Well im sure your all aware im currently having problems with my 2.4
I've noticed a loss in power and my fuel economy is gone to buggery. I used to get a good 600kms out of a full tank, now im lucky to get 450. I don't drive the car hard, especially atm.
Dave from RPW reckons it could be the oxygen sensor thats contained in the exhuast headers... what do you guys reckon with this one?

well...dave would know better than any of us......
enuf said blake
What kinda lost in power? Speed? Electric Power?
Well maybe change your timebelt for a start?
Them what u call it that burns fuels.. Spark plugs, replace all four of them.
Dunno, im just guessing.

first check ur air filter....knowing you, you would have already checked this! but it definately could be your oxygen sensor...if any sensors stuff up it stuffs up the whole system.......efi cars suck! hehe

My filter is dirty but it wouldn't explain such a massive loss in power and fuel economy.
I will clean it this week anyway and wait and see.

maybe you have dropped a cyl?
do you have extractors? aparently if you use like a gasket goo stuff on them it kills the oxygen sensor?
ive been told to always use a proper gasket on exhaust systems cos the chemicals they use on that exhaust goo gasket shit kills the oxygen sensor slowly...
just a thought?

Dud computer? (Try leave the battery off for a while for it to reset) Timing belt gone floppy (in which case, get it fixed quick...!), Not getting spark in one of the cylinders? (Check plugs, and spark plug circuits back to distributor) Hmm.... That's basically mechanical, electrical... air has been covered already... ... lol.. maybe check there's not a banana stuck up your exhaust =D erm... Fuel? problem with the injectors?
could be a lot of things... At least it's still sorta running, sounds like something is getting old or dirty, that's all..
Blake as I was talking to you over my problem about chattering/whistling noise but very loud when starting car from cold. I also got a lost of power kinda, i can feel the car sometime "bog" down a bit. We had the same problem we agreed over messenger last night.
LiquidMagna also has the same problem like us, he got his timebelt tighten and injectors clean and now his car is running without chattering/whistling and lost slump of power sometimes.
Maybe you should give injector clean a go?

I was going to do that as my mate has an ultrasonic cleaner
however the smallest quantity of ultrasonic cleaner was like 50L which was $189 so i put it off until they get some 2.5L tins in.
then i will give that a go...
