I just thought i'd ask you guru's a quick question..

I've noticed that sometimes when in DRIVE on my TJ and you start to move from a stopped position the transmission tends to be jerky as if you are pushing then letting go the accellerator then pushing again - which i'm not doing.

It is funny.. If you stick the transmission into L (First) and press the accellerator for a moment then back off, press again, back off you get the same feeling - that lurch forward, back, forward that I get sometimes in DRIVE. I find if you press the accellerator more it stops and just goes - so can't be clutch slippage or anything. It seems like it is either downshifting or disengaging/engaging somehow..

Any ideas?

when in doubt, go back to Mitsubishi, TJ should still be under warrantee right?

we can only guess but if something is wrong, Mitsu should fix it up and it's free to get them to check this problem.

good luck.

I have a similar problem in a TJ advance. When the air/con is on and you set cruise control at 80 when in drive it seems to be flaring, then backing off etc etc.

Might go see my local mitsu for some looking into.

sounds like my old problem, turned out to be the O2 sensor. should be under warranty. definately look at it now cos it gets worse, much worse, trust me....
