splice into back of ciggi lighter, headunit any power source really. wire in with a switch on your console somewhere.
if u wanted u could also splice into the door lights so they come on when you open the door!

ok i helped my mate do his outside ones and we hooked them up to a relay(i think thats what it was called), and the relay went to the battery and then to a switch inside the car, i woul persume you would do the same with the inside neon, feed it through the fire wall, you will have to snip the cigerette lighter adaptor of, attatch to the relay, then attatch this to the battery and switch. please confirm with someone with more of an electrical background, because i might have used the wrong lingo. good luck

For my neons i tapped into my amp wire for power and used a switch i mounted under the steering wheel to control them. Works well.

So with the amp hookup, would u splice it up to the positive and the other to your earth? how do u know what is positive and negative with the neon? does it matter?

Battery test will tell ya. Neons only work one way around, so when you've stripped them back, jam one end into the positive, and the other into the negative.
Glowy = Right way round.
Not Glowy = Wrong way round.
And thats about it.

Yeah my neons had a red/black wires so it was easy to tell. If someone knows more about multimeters than i do (which is pretty easy cause i use mine as an expensive test light lol) i'm sure you could use one to test for polarity (red/black). If you hook it up via your amp kit it will be on all the time unless you put in a switch. Get em from dick smith jaycar etc pretty cheap and easy to install.

What about the plug under the Cup holders in the center console? Is that a power supply and could it be used?

i found if i hooked them all up together, then sent them to the power source, what ever that maybe, they began to dim, so i removed one cos the cops were giving me to much attention, lol, sorry for the crappy explanation

i know it can 'entice' them to check the rest of the car over, but u can only be done having them if the bulb can be seen...
tho i've also heard u can get booked if:
*u have red or blue lights
*theyre flashing/strobing etc
think thats it, but a few reasons they can book u for blue leds

I usually switch them off if i see a cop - not that i have them on much anyways - or that my car is cop bait being stock. I've got mini UV neons in my rear quarter windows i guess that would be bait.

I have red chasing LEDs in either side of my grill (knightrider style, What can i say wanted them since i was a kid!!), hooked them up with a direct wire from the battery through the firewall to the center console, mounted the switch about an inch in front of the cup holders. works well, not highly noticeable. Low profile round black rocker switch (Narva).
P.S. Only time been hassled by cops was sister driving my car in the city, Bumped the switch and was stopped in pole position at an intersection with 1/2 a doz cops on each corner doin traffic control training. She full-on bawled and told them it was her bros car and she had no idea where the switch was 10 mins of 3 coppers looking and found the switch was told to tell me they were illegal and to take em off. PMSL
My interor LED/Neons are running off my actualy headlights, I tapped into the ashtray light.
The external neons have a dedicated cable running off the battery, to a switch, then to the neons

Why not just run a thicker wire from the battery, through the firewall and up to under the center console and just use it for all your future power supply needs? that way you always know where to tap into for anything else you ever want to do inside the car? or atlernately run one from an ignition power source?
ignition power -> toggle switch -> lights
not too bad an idea really, because if you ever want more lights, guages or anything else in the car, you will have a power wire sitting there waiting for you without having to hunt for one.
if you run a thicker wire from the battery to inside the car somewhere and then run them all off that seperately they should all be a lot brighter.
I'm gonna be putting neons when i can get a hold of ORANGE ones...
I'm installing it so its:
ON - OFF - INTERIOR LIGHTS
I'm having 8 neons in my car all up, maybe 9 depends on a few things, and none of the neons will be visible, only the glow :D

I used to run 3 spliced into the back of the cigarette lighter with a switch in the glove box and they all seemed to be nice and bright? not any duller than usual. ? maybe im blind tho:bowrofl:

I have a dedicated power supply wire I put in and fed to behind the ash-tray area.Bit of advise guys, always put a switch in. I had an icident once coming back from Surfers and loads of cars were checkin me out. I was luvvin it  , until I realised all my (8) undercar neons were on nearly all the way home down the Pacific Hwy on a Saturday night !!! They were on a remote switch but got damp and never turned off. Had to pull over and disconnect at the battery:nuts: .

Where did you get them from? I too have always wanted them since I was knee high to a grasshopper but have never found them.
