hey was just woundering if $281 sounds alright for a 3L altinator from repco one of the bearings in mine is dry and it locks up every now and then so imm lookin at buyin a new one

or reconed from auto electrician or ebay ?
get the bearing replaced.

wow i actually thought that price wast bad i got told by the mech that reconditioning it would cost around 400 and reconditioning altinators isn't such a great idea as a crap load of stuffs needs to be un soldered re soldered and I'm assuming that it is the same one that is on there from when it was made 12 years ago

Buuuuuut you don't need to fully recondition yours, just replace the bearing.

Instead of reco'ing yours, just buy a swapover reco. Won't cost over $200.
I replaced the alternator on mine for $150 changeover for a reco with 1 year warranty.

I got my camry alternator for $55 changeover with 3 months warranty. From the wreckers
