Fuel filter wont be the problem. Oxy sensor maybe? Throttle Position sensor? Air Flow meter?

for the vibrating id be lookin at yur wheel alignment.

there could be many problems causing wat you described. its like u put yur foot down then nothing then it kicks in ?? i had the problem and it was definatly a fuel problem, problems i had was a leak in the rubber in the fuel tank, and another tmie the fuel reg was loose and needed to be tightened

I had a reconditioned gearbox fitted by Mitsubishi about 25,000kms ago, do you think thats the problem for the vibrating or lose of power?.

OK... things causing poor fuel economy to the extent you describe - fuel leak, fuel tank evap hoses, fuel cap leak. Easiest way to find these sort of things is to either walk around the car and see if you can smell fuel around any particular section of the car. I would also consider taking it to a mechanic to get them to check the fuel pressure to confirm whether there is a leak, and if possible locate it.

The shudder, being an auto, sounds like it would be the transmission itself - most likely related to the drive plate or torque converter. Have you checked the codes on the ECU and TCU? That is one of the first things you need to do to work out the source of the problem. You will probably have to go to a mechanic to get them to check the codes. If there are no codes returned by the TCU, I would check the transmission fluid. The colour should be a slight pink colour, and if it's dark red, has water traces in it or is a slightly milky colour, it needs a change. If there is oil streaks through the fluid or it is black and thick, you have a serious problem with the transmission. If it needs a change, you can get kits from places like Bursons, which include the filter. Get the proper mitsubishi transmission fluid from a mitsubishi dealer, and change it. It is possible that the fluid is worn out and could be allowing the transmission to slip significantly.

Other smaller things to consider with fuel economy, as the other posters above mentioned, is the oxygen sensor, TPS, PCV Valve, Throttle Valve, Idle speed settings, Fuel filters and Injectors. Oxygen sensor you can get tested by mechanic, TPS you just need an analogue multimeter, PCV valves and throttle valve can be cleaned with carby/throttle body cleaner, Idle speed settings I'm sure there are other posts on this site about this process, Fuel filters can be replaced (should be done every year in my opinion) and injectors can be cleaned with injector cleaner.

Hope this is of some help!

Well Guys my car is fixed. I was reading the gregorys manual this morning and checked everything it says too. Checked FPR/TPS/OS/INJECTORS, checked ECU for errors and came up nothing!!
Last thing i tryed was looking for vacume leaks, turns out that 3 vacume hose's were off. 2 from throttle body and another from inlet manifold. Put all 3 back on and has a **** load of power. Dont know if this will help with the petrol problem but will fill the tank and will find out.

How did 3 vacuum hoses manage to come off???

I can't see how that many could fall off all at once! geeze
